Get reply suggestions with Gemini in Gmail (Workspace Labs)

If you’re short on time or need help finding the right words, Gemini can analyze the context of an email and suggest relevant responses with Contextual Smart Reply. When you reply to an email, Contextual Smart Reply shows 3 email suggestions tailored to your conversation. You can then select and edit a response.

Use Contextual Smart Reply

Important:

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Gmail app .
  2. Open an email.
  3. At the bottom, in the text box, tap Go to compose .
  4. Below the message, select a response.
    • Before you send a response, you can edit it.
  5. Tap Send .

Give feedback about email suggestions

Gemini for Google Workspace is constantly learning and may not be able to support your request. Because feedback may be human readable, please do not submit data that contains personal, confidential, or sensitive information.

If you get a suggestion that’s inaccurate or that you feel is unsafe, you can submit feedback.

  1. At the bottom of the compose window, swipe right on the email suggestions.
  2. Tap Good suggestion or Bad suggestion .
  3. Optional: If you select Bad suggestion :
    1. In the pop-up window, tap Get Started.
    2. Write your feedback.

Turn off Workspace Labs

To turn off any of the features on Google Workspace Labs, you must exit Workspace Labs. If you exit, you will permanently lose access to all Workspace Labs features, and you won’t be able to rejoin Workspace Labs. Learn more about how to exit Workspace Labs.
