Use call controls with Google Meet

Important: Call controls are currently only supported on Chromium-based browsers. In addition, Call controls with Bluetooth are only supported on ChromeOS.

To mute and unmute yourself in Google Meet, you can use buttons or call controls on USB and Bluetooth devices, such as headsets or microphones. If your device has an LED status light, the light syncs with your current mute status.

Before you begin

You have to pair your Bluetooth headset before setting call control. For best results:

• Use a Meet-certified headset or microphone.
  • If you use a Bluetooth headset with native Bluetooth connection, use a WWCB-certified device.
  • Devices that aren’t Meet-certified might not work as expected.

Turn on call control for your USB or Bluetooth device

You can turn on call controls before or during a meeting. To turn on call controls while in a meeting:

1. Click More Settings .
2. In the Audio section, click Call Control.
3. Click + Connect device.
4. A pop-up appears with a list of available devices:
   1. Select your USB or Bluetooth device.
   2. Click Connect.
5. When a pop-up opens in your browser's URL bar, select the device to turn on and click Connect.

Troubleshoot call controls

Remove permissions for a USB or Bluetooth device

1. While in a meeting or on meet.google.com, hover over the URL bar within your browser and click View site information .
2. At the bottom of this pop up, there’s a list of the devices that are granted permissions for use on Meet. Next to the device that you want to remove, click Delete .

Reconfigure your computer settings

1. On your laptop or computer, open the Bluetooth settings.
2. Select your Bluetooth device.
3. Disconnect your Bluetooth device.
4. Re-connect it.
