Loyalty cards & gift cards

In Google Wallet, you can store and use digital copies of your loyalty and gift cards. Loyalty cards also include rewards and membership cards.

Add a loyalty card to the app

  1. Open the Google Wallet app .
  2. Tap Add to Wallet and then Loyalty.
  3. Find and tap the merchant or loyalty program name. You can also search for the merchant or loyalty program name.
  4. You may have the option to scan your existing card, sign up for a new account, or find your existing account. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Tip: If you can’t find the merchant or loyalty program name when you search the app, it means that the loyalty program isn't supported.

Add loyalty cards with Gmail

Important: If you delete the email with the loyalty card, the pass is removed from Google Wallet. Deleted messages stay in your trash for 30 days. After that, the email is deleted permanently. You can add the card again with the app.

Wallet automatically adds loyalty cards from your Gmail inbox when you have the Smart features and personalization in other Google products control turned on.

  1. On your Android phone, open the Gmail app .
  2. Tap Menu Menu and then Settings and then the account that you want to change.
  3. To turn data sharing on, under “General” turn on Smart features and personalization in other Google products.

Add a gift card

Important: Google Play gift cards aren't supported. If your gift card has an issuer logo, such as Mastercard or Visa, you must add it as a payment method.

  1. Open the Google Wallet app .
  2. Tap Add to Wallet .
  3. Tap Gift card.
  4. Find and tap the merchant or gift card name. You can also search for the merchant or gift card name.
  5. You may have the option to scan your gift card. Otherwise, you can enter the card info manually. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Add a loyalty or gift card from a partner’s website or app

  1. Open the pass issuer’s website, app, or email.
  2. If needed, sign in to the pass issuer's site.
  3. Select Add to Google Wallet or Add to GPay.
    • Tip: The options on the pass issuer's site can typically be found under "Tickets," "Passes," or "Cards."
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

If Add to Google Wallet or "Add to GPay" aren’t there, the pass issuer may not support this feature. For more details, contact the pass issuer, or try another method.

Use a loyalty card or gift card

  1. Open the Google Wallet app .
  2. Tap the loyalty card or gift card that you want to use. You may need to swipe to find it.
  3. Ask the cashier to scan the barcode. If your loyalty program or gift card doesn’t have a barcode, provide your membership number to the cashier.

Tip: Some loyalty card programs let you tap your phone to the terminal to apply your loyalty card.

Remove a loyalty card or gift card

  1. Open the Google Wallet app .
  2. Tap the loyalty card or gift card you want to remove. You may need to swipe to find it.
  3. At the top right, tap More More.
  4. Scroll to the bottom and then tap Remove.

Archive a loyalty card or gift card

  1. Open the Google Wallet app .
  2. Tap the loyalty card or gift card you want to archive. You may need to swipe to find it.
  3. At the top right, tap More More.
  4. Scroll to the bottom and then tap Archive.

Fix problems

Can't add my gift cards
  • The Google Wallet app has limits for how many gift cards you can add.
  • Within 30 days, you can add up to 10 cards total and 5 cards per merchant.
  • If you have multiple gift cards for a single merchant, you can ask the merchant to combine your gift cards into one card.
  • Otherwise, to add more gift cards, you must remove an existing one. Follow the steps above to remove a gift card.
Cashier can't scan my card

If the cashier can’t scan your loyalty card or gift card:

  1. Clean your screen.
  2. Check for cracks over the barcode. If your screen is cracked, drag the barcode to another part of your screen.
  3. If the barcode still doesn’t scan, ask the cashier to enter the code directly into their register.
Uninstalled the Google Wallet app & lost my cards

If you uninstalled the Google Wallet app, your gift cards and loyalty programs are still stored in your Google Account. To recover your gift cards and loyalty programs:

  1. Download the Google Wallet app.
  2. Sign in to the Google Account you used previously with Google Wallet.

Your gift cards and loyalty programs should reappear in the app.

Loyalty card disappeared from Google Wallet

Added card from Gmail

If you delete the email with the loyalty card, the card is removed from Google Wallet. Deleted emails stay in your trash for 30 days. Then, the email is deleted permanently.

If you still have the email, you can add the card again with the Google Wallet app.

Added card another way

Your loyalty card might disappear if you:

  • Factory reset your device.
  • Remove your Google Account from your device.
  • Clear all data from Google Play services or Google Wallet.

To use your cards with Google Wallet, you must add them to the app again.
