Your Waze account privacy on iOS

Keeping you safe online means protecting your information and respecting your privacy. That’s why Waze focuses on keeping your information secure, treating it responsibly, and putting you in control. Our teams work every day to make Waze safe no matter what you’re doing. As Waze’s apps are updated with new features or bug fixes in Apple’s App Store, you’ll find updates to our app page listings that include Apple’s new App Privacy Details. These labels represent the maximum categories of data that could be collected if you use every available feature and service in the app.

To learn more about Apple’s App Privacy Details program, please visit Apple’s blog.

You can always control your privacy settings inside the Waze application.

How we keep you in control of your privacy

How does the Waze iOS app track your data across apps and websites owned by other companies for advertising purposes?

As we announced on January 27, 2021, Google and Waze will no longer use the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) or other information in scope of Apple’s App Tracking Transparency policy on iOS for personalized advertisements and ad-related measurement in the near future.

To turn off personalized ads altogether, visit the Waze Application Privacy Settings. Additionally, you can permanently delete the activity data tied to your account at any time.

How do Waze and Waze Carpool iOS apps use data tied to your account?

The data you trust us with provides helpful and personalized experiences for you in Waze applications. For example, location is enabled to provide activities such as turn-by-turn navigation instructions and real-time traffic updates about your commute. Additionally, users can choose to provide Work and Home addresses, simplifying the in-app navigation process and helping you get on the road faster. You can view or delete your saved activity at any time, like your Navigation history.

Data also helps us ensure our services are working as intended, such as monitoring outages or troubleshooting issues that you report to us. And data helps us make improvements to our services — for example, understanding which roads are missing and necessitate map edits. Check out our Privacy Policy to learn more.

What is Waze doing to help you control your privacy and security settings?

Our privacy and security engineers remain focused on building the most advanced protections into the products you use every day. Treating your information responsibly, protecting it with world-class security, and keeping you in control are the principles that guide our work.

You can find ads and privacy settings in your Waze Account. These settings allow you to choose how your information will be used. For example you can view your Navigation history and choose to delete it from your Waze Account.

Does Waze sell your personal information?

We do not sell your personal information to anyone. While advertising makes it possible for us to offer our products free of charge, your personal information is not for sale. We keep your data private at every point in the process of showing you ads.

How do I delete all of Waze and Waze Carpool data?

You can delete all of your activity via the Waze app account deletion. Check out our Help Center to learn more.

Likewise, Waze Carpool app users can delete their account including their entire history. Learn more in this Help Center article.
