Create & manage a shared YouTube TV membership, or family group

Create a family group to share YouTube TV—and other Google apps and services—with up to 5 other members at no extra cost.

How family groups work on YouTube TV

  • If you purchase a YouTube TV membership, you can create a family group. When you create a family group, you become the family manager.
  • As the family manager:
  • As a family group member:
    • You can build your own personal library of content in YouTube TV. Your viewing preferences and DVR are your own—we won't share your library or watch history with your family group.
    • You and other family group members can view any extra subscriptions and packages purchased by the family manager.
  • Sharing YouTube TV as part of a family group also lets you share other Google services with the same members. Learn more about family groups on Google.

Locations & simultaneous streaming

Location requirements

Location requirements work the same if you're sharing your YouTube TV membership with a family group. The family manager sets the home area, and each family member must primarily live in the same household.

Family group members need to periodically use YouTube TV in their home location to maintain access.

Note: If you use YouTube TV while traveling, available programs may change based on your location. Learn more about using YouTube TV while traveling.

Simultaneous streaming

Family group members can watch YouTube TV on up to three separate devices at the same time.
If you're a family member whose family cancels their YouTube TV membership, you can sign up for an individual membership. To sign up, leave your family group and then sign up for YouTube TV with your own Google Account.
