Unavailable programs in YouTube TV

When you try to watch certain programs, like sports events, you may encounter viewing restrictions. Viewing restrictions are set by our content partners, such as sports leagues or network partners. They vary based on your current or home location, the content you're trying to watch, which platform or device you're watching on, and possibly other restrictions made by our partners. Affected programs will be unavailable on YouTube TV. If a restriction is in effect in your location, we'll do our best to let you know.

Types of viewing restrictions

Mobile viewing restriction

Some content isn't available to watch on mobile devices. Affected programs will be designated with this icon . You can still watch these programs by casting to your TV or watching from a computer or tablet. Learn more about supported devices on YouTube TV.

Location-based viewing restriction

Some programs, like sports events, aren't available in certain geographic locations. These restrictions are set by content owners and vary based on your location, the program you're watching, and more. Affected programs will be designated with this icon .

If you're traveling, you may also be restricted in which live TV programs you can watch. You'll see this icon if a program you're recording is unavailable to watch live. Your recording will be available in your library after the live program ends. Learn about using YouTube TV while traveling.

Total viewing restriction

You may sometimes see that a program on a broadcast network is not available. Affected programs will be designated with this icon .
This happens because YouTube TV is an internet-based service, and digital streaming rights for certain programs are different than traditional TV rights. If an unavailable program appears in your Library, Home, or Live tabs, you'll see an alert that the program isn't available.
Notes:
  • If you're a frequent traveler, make sure to use YouTube TV at least once every 3 months in your home area. This check makes sure YouTube TV can continue to offer you the correct local networks.
  • If you're an MLB fan, make sure to use YouTube TV once every 30 days in your home area. Checking in will help to avoid sports game-related viewing restrictions.
  • If you move out of the home area you signed up in, you'll need to update your location in YouTube TV.
