I have pop accounts set up for my business. Ever since the last Thunderbird upgrade, I've been seeing messages download and then immediately disappear. Some of these have been critical things that I needed to get, and I've had to ask the sender to repeatedly re-send them before they stopped disappearing as soon as they came in. They have been from a wide variety of sources, including the US government, so it's not a problem with the sender. I've used Thunderbird for all the years that it's been available, without any problems ever, until this began. Please fix it, whatever it is!

I have three email account in Thunderbird, two are AT&T (bellsouth.net) and one is gmail. One of the bellsouth emails is VERY slow, reading and deleting, but the other two emails run very good, no problems at all with reading or deleting. I have read through many many similar but not quite the same questions in the forum and I have tried every one of the suggested things to try to fix this but it is still a problem. Any new suggestions?

I am about to set up a new Windows 11 laptop. The old one is a Win10 one, running Thunderbird 128.4.3 32-bit. Note I haven't upgraded to 5.2esr yet. My Thunderbird profile as recorded by Mozbackup is about 16GB - most of this is archived in Local Folders. I have 15 email accounts (using four different domains, none of them are gmail or hotmail etc) and a newsgroup.
I've looked at various answers (and problems!) around these factors and cannot see the wood for the trees. Can anybody tell me - or direct me to - a clear description of how to go about this? Some questions are:
1. Can I install 64-bit on the new laptop and copy over the old 32-bit profile? If not, is there any problem in continuing to use a 32 bit Thunderbird? I am getting a lot of hanging/not responding in the current TB. Note I haven't upgraded to 5.2esr yet.
2. How do I ensure that all the archived mail is transferred without problems? I haven't compacted anything lately, since I noticed that sometimes a message stub is retained where the message body seems to have disappeared, and that compacting risks deleting even the message stub, which can be useful.
3. I've been using MozBackup for ages now but it is really ancient - is there a more up-to-date backup that would be reliable?
Thanks in advance! I'm planning on do the new installations at the weekend but anything I can do to prepare would be useful to know!

I had had issues with gloda (search) for a long while. I have tried deleting the sqlite file to force a reindex as per the guidance. I am watching Activity Monitor in TB after reopening, to monitor the reindex process. But it hangs every time. it goes through sent items and seems to get stuck at one point every time. See image below, it's been sat like that for an hour or more now. Any ideas? thanks (Image uploader doesn't seem to be working on this board, so here's the screenshot: https://ibb.co/8MjfKRW)

Hello @all: I run TB 128 on up to date Archlinux with gdm. I want to publish one of my TB calendars to a network volume to which a group of people will have consult access. For that the sequence of step is:
1. Click Events and Tasks. 2. Click Publish. 3. Click the calendar you want to publish, and click OK. (A small window appears with a url field to complete) 4. Enter your WebDAV url.
The issue is when I enter the WebDAV url. My url for the particular (already existing) directory I want to publish to is:
davs://b2drop.mydomain/remote.php/webdav/Calendars/
Trial 1 I enter the above url in the appropriate field of the small window and .... nothing happens. I cannot click the "Publish" button in the small url field window, because it is grayed out. Trial 2 I tried to modify the URL so the publish button would become active. That happened when using:
https://b2drop.mydomain/remote.php/webdav/Calendars/
In that case the username and password are requested. I enter them and I get an error message:
"Error: Publishing the calendar file failed. Status code: 401: Unauthorized"
Trial 3 I go to my remote b2drop.domain volume and secure the actual link that point to the still empty directory, copy-paste it as
https://b2drop.domain/index.php/s/sCHzHY95kPEC4Gi
in the url field, click Publish, ... and nothing happens.
I am probably missing something basic. Any pointer anyone ?

I have a calendar with a CalDAV connection through my hosting service. The CalDAV connection is fine, because it is working properly on my phone. However, when I try and add the calendar in Thunderbird I run into problems.
I have managed to create the calendar and Thunderbird did accept my login credentials. The calendar appears in the calendar menu, but it is not enabled. When I try and enable it, it immediately jumps back to "not enabled". What could be causing this, and how do I get around it?
Thank you sincerely, Rasmus

Ever since I updated to Thunderbird ver 128.4.2 esr, I can no longer do a global search by electing to search "Local Folders" and include all subfolders in the search. For example, as a test case, if I search for all messages dated after 1/1/2024, no messages in my "Inbox" folder are listed. It is true that of the 20 or so subfolders of "Local Folders", there is one subfolder named "Misc". Messages in "Misc" and its subfolders that meet the 1/1/2024 test criterion are found and listed, but other subfolders of "Local Folders" are ignored. Instead, the search engine remains hung in a "....Searching" state until I manually close the search.
But also ... if I choose to explicitly name any one of the subfolders of "Local Folders" as the root folder of a search (and "include all subfolders" contained in that root, the test case above finds all messages in the named subfolder and it's subordinate subfolders.
Bottom line ... I have a lot of subfolders and sometimes I've forgotten where I have stored a particular message. In a pile of messages decades deep, this problem has become a major disability. Someone please help!
Some facts that might be important.
I had hoped the problem might go away with subsequent Thunderbird updates. I've updated my mac to TBird 128.5.2esr now: but I still have the problem
I'm still running the latest version of Big_Sur on my mac. (I don't have this problem on a laptop that's running a later version of MacOS)
I have a lot of filters that automatically move incoming messages to my myriad of subfolders. The filter engine appears to continue to work correctly implying that, the filter engine knows how to find all of the subfolders of "Local Folders" even though the search engine doesn't.

Hi, The drop down for open Email messages that is displayed horizontally across the top of the screen just contains blank boxes. The boxes used to display the related open email message when you click on it. Now the empty box just displays a blank page. Any new messages I open today, display correctly in a new box and open up correctly when I click on the box. All previous open messages before today appear to have lost their link. Is there any possibility of restoring the link to older messages? Thanks for any help you can provide!
FYI - I have not made any software or hardware changes in the past 6 months.

Up until today Thunderbird (v. 102.15.1) was working well. Today I found it was not downloading messages from my email server (Zoho). I tried many things to fix it, to no avail. Finally I restored everything from a full backup I had made a day previous when Thunderbird was working well. Thunderbird *still* doesn't work. Even test messages I send to myself are not downloaded.
When I click the button "Get Messages" normally it checks for and downloads all new messages. Now clicking it does nothing. If instead I click the down-arrow next to the button and choose "Get all new messages" it does check for new messages and claims to be downloading them, but they never appear in my mailbox.
I have Thunderbird (admittedly, a later version) installed on another computer and that continues to work fine, so the problem doesn't appear to be caused by the server.
What could be causing this behavior?

I have a new Thunderbird installation - IMAP account. I cannot see invite emails (containing .ics) in my inbox. I can see them on another Thunderbird installation, I can see them on outlook, I can see them when I go to full search, but they don't show in the inbox.
When received, I hear the audio alert - but the number of new emails messages does not increase, nor does it display.
(It's not in junk, I haven't deleted it - the main search shows it's in the inbox folder, but it's not visible on the inbox tab).

Hi,
Thunderbird tries to access many websites, even when it is in the background and apparently idle. In the last two or three weeks, it has tried to access about sixty websites that Little Snitch (Macintosh) reports by IP address, not domain name. Without knowing the domain name, I cannot tell what Thunderbird is trying to do, so I do not allow it to access those sites.
I know that Firefox does this also and that Thunderbird is built on Firefox.
In the Mullvad browser, built on Tor's browser, which is, in turn, built on Firefox, this problem is resolved by setting an option to use the user's default DNS resolver. I cannot find such an option in Thunderbird. Might there be one in a configuration setting? Or some other way to deal with this matter?
Thanks for any help.

In the last few weeks when i look at the Washington Post "The Seven" newsletter e-mail there are words missing from the description of each item. Only the words that are underlined are shown. The picture shows what it looks like after I do the mouse select. I don't know how to fix this. Please help. George Mells

Hello I have been using Thunderbird for several years, but recently, it has not accepted either my email address or password for my BT internet address, which has worked fine in the past.
My BT internet *********@btinternet.com works perfectly with BT Mail or Outlook.
I prefer Thunderbird but I need it to accept both Gmail and BT messages.
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks Patrick
