about

On the Bahato EP you can hear the streets of Bialystok, the fields of Podlasie and rhythms of Latin America. It is a meeting across musical and linguistic boundaries. Sw@da, MAXIM and Niczos push the boundaries of what can be called Polish music, showing the multicultural richness that lies hidden in our regions - where the drum machine and the dulcimer stand on the same shelf.

Sw@da, a producer with Colombian roots. He was nominated for a Fryderyk for his album SAD with Karolina Cicha. In his music he combines influences from all cultures of Podlasie and ancestors from both sides of the family tree.

MAXIM, an experienced rapper who fluently moves both in the new and old school of hip-hop, but always speaks with the same voice, which was shaped by his attachment to the local community.

Niczos, singer of Hajda Banda, sings ‘in her own way’ - in the Podlasie micro-language. She is probably the only singer like that in Polish popular music. It is a language associated with folk songs, still alive - it is still used by the inhabitants of the historic Podlasie region.

‘Bahato’ is a story in four songs about local community. About minorities living in the region. About vodka smuggling. About opposition to authority. About love. About an overpowering bass that makes you dance.
