Democratising and accelerating access to diagnosis and treatment for inherited retinal diseases.

About us

Eye2Gene's mission is to help provide a genetic diagnosis for people with sight-loss caused by an inherited retinal dystrophy (IRD) faster than ever before and for everyone in the world. In parallel we support producers of gene therapies to make informed data driven decisions to get their therapies to the right patients at the right time in the safest and most effective way. Over 300 gene mutations are known to cause IRD and a genetic diagnosis is a significant step towards managing, and possibly treating, people's sight-loss. Eye2Gene makes genetic diagnosis faster and more accessible to more IRD-affected families while helping to bring more therapies to market.

Inherited retinal dystrophies (IRDs) are a group of genetic conditions that slowly take away a person' s eyesight. IRD conditions, such as retinitis pigmentosa, affect millions of people worldwide and frequently result in blindness. To combat the impact of IRDs, numerous international organizations are dedicated to advancing research and raising awareness. Here we listed some international organizations that are advancing research in IRDs:  Retina International: A global, patient-led umbrella organization including patient-led voluntary groups, charities, and foundations. Their work is centered around supporting and enhancing the activities of its membership, to help ensure a common vision exists within the patient-led retina community. Moreover, they also aim to guarantee access to essential healthcare for all people living with retinal conditions.  ProgRET is proud to have Retina International as an associated partner, collaborating to advance research and support the IRD community. https://lnkd.in/dbShxZb3   Retina International   Fighting Blindness Ireland: A patient-led, nonprofit organization dedicated to finding treatments and cures for sight loss through cutting-edge research, advocacy, and support. Founded in 1983, it has become a leading voice for individuals affected by vision impairment and blindness in Ireland. The organization funds pioneering scientific research, offers a range of support services, and works tirelessly to raise awareness and influence policy changes. Fighting Blindness Ireland aims to empower people living with sight loss, improve their quality of life, and bring hope for a future where preventable blindness and vision impairment are eliminated. As an associated partner of ProgRET, Fighting Blindness Ireland plays a crucial role in driving progress toward a brighter future for individuals with IRDs.  As an associated partner of ProgRET, Fighting Blindness Ireland contributes significantly to advancing research and fostering hope for a brighter future for individuals with IRDs. https://lnkd.in/d5zrwhnu  Fighting Blindness Fight for Sight: A dynamic charity funding research into the understanding, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of vision loss. They support projects and programs that build confidence and connections for people with vision loss.  https://lnkd.in/dzAYvdxk   Fight for Sight Macular Society: An international nonprofit organization with a mission to overcome the fear and isolation caused by macular disease by funding world-class research and providing the best advice and support.  https://lnkd.in/dSZAKUg   Macular Society  ProgRET thanks all charities and organizations advancing research in IRD. Through tight connection, we can work together toward a future without retinal dystrophies.    #ProgRET #RretinalResearch #HoriyonMSCA #adIRD #GeneTherapy #InnovationInScience 显示译文
