Two pending UK Governement Frameworks offer significant opportunities for SMEs seeking to provide digital and technology consultancy and development services for the public sector. The Crown Commercial Services (CCS) plans to issue calls for businesses to join two Frameworks from which UK public sector organisations will call off services through further competitions for an initial period of up to 4 years - Technology Services 4 (total value £18bn) and Digital Outcomes and Specialists 7 (total value £8bn). Anticipated invitations to tender have been delayed, but are likely to be issued in late 2024 or, more likely early 2025. The Technology Services 4 framework seeks to provide public sector buyers with a flexible way to buy technology services from suppliers, including technology strategy and service design as well as services to provide support with the operational running and ongoing development of an IT environment. Although more suited to larger businesses with significant reserves due to the size and length of likely contracts, medium-sized companies with a £1m+ turn-over are invited to apply. The Digital Ouctomes and Specialists 7 framework seeks to offer a flexible and SME-friendly way that public sector organisations can access agile development and user-centred design services including individual Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) specialist roles on a day-rate basis. This is suited to smaller businesses operating on a lean and responsive footing looking to become a supplier. For more information about these plans follow the links below. “Frequently Avoiding Questions” Is anyone else being driven to distraction when editing text on the LinkedIn App? When I have written something and try to make edits (on the app) it seems to jump/scroll to the top or bottom of the page. I appreciate this is probably user error - fine I accept my inadequacies but can anyone help me please?? Anyone offering me a space on their free introductory session to their 50 part “How to use LinkedIn” course will be sent gangster rap videos every hour for the next 100 days! (I appreciate I’m very unlikely to receive any help from LinkedIn’s dark tower called algorithm or from their FAQs “Frequently Avoiding Questions”). #linkedin #socialplatforms

Salesforce World Tour London report: The Salesforce platform has been central to our recent digital improvements, so it was important for some of the St Albans City & District Council transformation team to go to the Salesforce World Tour today to see what’s new. Answer: a lot, not least a very slick demo of how Aston Martin use Salesforce to promote and personalise their cars for individuals https://lnkd.in/eGikr-kX. The scale of the event is quite dizzying, and while we went to a lot of stuff we couldn't do it all. AI was of course central, with the message being that you can trust our version (subtext: not to swear at your residents, or repackage their personal data for other customers). We heard a really good presentation from Eastleigh (James Battle) and North Lincolnshire Councils about how they had used Salesforce to bring their various data sources together to enhance services and reduce the number of different systems they have. There were lots of goodies here that we could use for better services for our residents and businesses, depending on the affordability and value for money for a district council like ours. Well done to our team Billy Senior Monique F. Harry Graham and Charlotte Aspinall for all the hard work, and also for the obligatory pose with the crazy Salesforce-type creatures.

I've been here for 5 weeks now and it's clear that BJSS is a great company with really nice people who care about the work we do. I learnt a really powerful lesson this week in #productownership ! A bug was raised on Monday where it would have taken me two hours to fix, while setting up new users. However, on the backlog was User Management which was put lower on the backlog (I suspected 2 or 3 weeks) In three days we used a #bug to refine the backlog and the users inputs to get the User Management functionality working. Now we will launch the v2.0 with full User Management. Add new organisational users and edit their access. Voila :) Sometimes the GREATER time period results in the GREATER Maximisation of resources (aka me)

As we draw to a near end of 2024, and my return to work in the last 4 months after taking (very fortunately) nearly a year off on Maternity Leave, I just wanted to talk about the sheer mental and physical load placed on new and existing mothers who work full time. And fathers for that matter. My return to work was filled with guilt, anxiety and sheer exhaustion. My 15 month old still doesn’t sleep through the night and most weeks since he started day care has been unwell with one form of virus or another. I’m overwhelmed with anxiety of “what will today bring” during Monday-Friday. Will I get a phone call to pick him up early, will he need to stay off for the remainder of the week? How am I going to focus on work when he needs me? Am I a bad person for shipping him off to childcare and family members in the first place? Does he have clean clothes,spare clothes, clothes that fit him, nappies. Am I present enough with him in the evenings, is he eating balanced foods, is he eating enough at all….the list goes on and on. Will work not take me seriously as a new mum, will they think that I’m lacking or not committed or can’t handle a promotion. Do I come across as frazzled because quite frankly I’m effing exhausted. I feel awful that I can’t get up with him by my self multiple times a night and I need help from my husband who also works full time and is exhausted. But then I remember, I am enough, I’m doing more than enough, I’m trying my damn hardest and I appreciate those so much more who have been understanding. I think finding the right company, right role and team is the only solution to my home stresses. Remembering I’m not the first mother and I won’t be the last who has been and is going through what I’m going through now. I’m so fortunate I get to work from home a majority of the time and have a supportive non micro managing team. I think surrounding yourself with like minded people who understand is the key to all of it. Working helps me connect, helps me feel like I have some identity to myself. Gets me using my brain and improves my memory. Working means I can give my child the best future that I can. And I wouldn’t change any of that. #workingmums #maternityleave #community #workgratitude #employee #greatplacetowork

Interesting comments about the current trend on names for the people and how the people should contact the service desks we all provide. I have been doing this for a while now, and one thing for me has never changed, people like talking to people when they have a problem in the hope they can get it fixed ASAP, ideally, they would never like to speak to anyone about a problem they never have so they can get on with their day. We all remember the saying "if it ain't broke don't fix it", what we aspire to in SWBH is that if it does not break, we don't have to fix it!! If you have enough people to listen when they call, those who call will be able to get on with jobs they are paid (and sometimes want) to do, I mean who gets paid to only call the IT Service desk? A true measure of an IT service desk should be how long someone cannot work due to an IT issue, we challenge the thinking of measuring how quickly we respond once the call is logged when they can speak to us or find a PC to be able to log a call on the service desk portal, after spending 30 mins trying to read through all the faqs.

To anyone in my #socialhousing network - this is definitely a worthwhile piece to be thinking about. Data is the core of how we work and we make informed decisions based on reports and numbers. If we're all doing things differently it becomes difficult to collaborate and make real progressive change. If you have a spare few mins, I'd massively encourage those to complete this survey
