DYK for Shackleford (horse)
On 1 June 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Shackleford (horse), which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that before Shackleford won the 2011 Preakness Stakes, his owners had tried to sell him, but no one wanted to meet their reserve price? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

Speedy deletion nomination of File:20091104 Awadagin Pratt and young accompanist - Franz Schubert Fantasia in F minor, 1st and 4th movements.ogg
A tag has been placed on File:20091104 Awadagin Pratt and young accompanist - Franz Schubert Fantasia in F minor, 1st and 4th movements.ogg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.

Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Images that were tagged are now resolved (as Commons), but it's clear TWINKLE has a slight issue, in that it's trying to place a template that doesn't seem to exist... :( Sfan00 IMG (talk) 12:01, 1 June 2011 (UTC)
Poker images for deletion
You may now be aware that the graphs of your poker hands were nominated for deletion at Wikipedia:Files for deletion/2011 June 1. If you believe you have a single argument for keeping them all, just put it on the first nomination and explain it's valid for all others (it works). If you have individual arguments, you'll have to post in the individual entries. If you agree by now that it was a bad idea to upload them to being with, consider deleting them yourself to save the community from the work of cleaning this mess. Thanks, --damiens.rf 20:35, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

Sesame Street GAC
Hey Tony, what's up with this article? Have I missed anything? Anything else needs to be done before you pass it? (she asks hopefully) ;) Christine (talk) 16:11, 2 June 2011 (UTC)
- Ok, so I think I've addressed all the concerns. You requested at the bottom of the review, though, that I should "comment on remaining issues from original concern". Are you talking about the links that I had overlooked (which are now corrected), or some of the issues about music and pop culture? If the latter's the case, I think that I've addressed them. We may need to come to a consensus about these things, so let me know how you think we should do that. Christine (talk) 12:57, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
- Tony, thanks for the pass. You're nothing if not fair. Great workin' with ya. Christine (talk) 22:16, 6 June 2011 (UTC)
Shackleford lead
Hi Tony, I tweaked the lead quite a bit on Shackleford, to do the "lead should summarize the rest of the article" thing, with the intent of bringing it more into line with the wiki MOS for a GA. I see this isn't your first GA rodeo, either, so I hope my edits work for you. I'll support the GA nom to the best of my ability, let me know if there is anything in particular that may also need to be done. I popped the pedigree stuff in the lead down to the pedigree section, and then brought up snippets from subsequent paragraphs into the lead. I normally hate to write my own lead, as I usually have seen the article too much, but this time it was pretty straightforward and it helped that I was only a partial contributor, not the lead contributor. I hope the changes make the GA nom go smoother. Good luck! Montanabw(talk) 17:15, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

RE: Sam Barnhart
I had left a topic on the talk page of that article, and largely due to a lack of an objection I had decided to add him in. It was due to this link:[1] which I couldn't see a fault in. JaeDyWolf ~ Baka-San (talk) 17:03, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
- I just dislike how that would leave a bracelet unaccounted for. What if Sam Barnhart were to become notable in future? JaeDyWolf ~ Baka-San (talk) 17:32, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
- The site is calling the bracelet the "first gold bracelet of 2011" in the opening paragraph, as well as counting the bracelet as the "893rd gold bracelet in WSOP history [...] this figure includes every official WSOP event played." As much as it was unexpected, it IS being touted as an official bracelet. JaeDyWolf ~ Baka-San (talk) 17:51, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
Re: File moves of archive pages
Hi Tony, it's perfectly fine to update file links on archive pages. Just change all the links when you move the file. Graham87 05:42, 4 June 2011 (UTC)
- Oh, change all links except the inline links (those starting with "[[:"). This edit turned your message into nonsense. Graham87 03:01, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
- I take that back, partially; I think your change to Wikipedia talk:Featured sound candidates/Archive 5 was acceptable. But when the discussion is about the actual filenames, it doesn't make sense to change them. Graham87 03:22, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, that one was OK. Graham87 13:59, 10 June 2011 (UTC)

Here We Go Again: Celebrating the Genius of Ray Charles
Nice additions. I think it would be good to add samples of the songs as well, the one that you uploaded (the first version) would be a good way to start since it is the song that gives the title to the album and maybe also a sample of "Cryin' Time", that is mentioned by one of the critics.--GDuwenTell me! 01:59, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for the sample. I think that the article is good enough to be nominated to GA now, thanks for the help.--GDuwenTell me! 15:22, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
- I withdrew the nomination because after some recommendations from another user I wasn't so sure that the article was ready to be reviewed. Do you think that is good enough?--GDuwenTell me! 21:50, 11 June 2011 (UTC)
- I will try to improve the article based on other album GA's and as soon as I feel that it is ready I will nominate it again. Probably sometime during this week.--GDuwenTell me! 03:45, 12 June 2011 (UTC)

The article Coppola family tree has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- WP:NOT says Wikipedia is not a genealogical project. All of the relevant info here should and likely is stored in the articles of people in the tree notable enough to have them.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Qwyrxian (talk) 10:01, 8 June 2011 (UTC)
Coppola Family prod
I left a note on the article's talk page, but there is already a Coppola family template. As such, would you be willing to restore the Prod? On an unrelated note, I'd ask that you refrain from nominating any more brass band arrangements of music where such music is not wanted, regardless of whether the style of that rendition/arrangement is underrepresented at FS, they are of little EV and do not illustrate their respective articles particularly well. Interview request
Hi TonyTheTiger,
My name is Hannah and I am an MSc student at Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford. I am currently working on my thesis titled ‘The Relationship between Quality of Collaborative Knowledge and Authorship: A Comparative Case Study of Google Knol vs. Wikipedia’. I’m aiming to compare quality of articles from Google Knol and Wikipedia and I need your help in identifying what authors do to make sure they write the best quality article.
If you agree to participate, you will be interviewed via email, Skype or any other means of your choice.
With your help, I hope to learn about the impact that the unique structural design of the two services have on article quality and thus hopefully for the Internet industry, increase awareness of the implications of design choices for the quality of user-generated content.
All data you provide will be anonymised and stored confidentially. You may withdraw at any time without prejudice and without providing a reason. In the event of withdrawal, data you already provided will immediately be removed.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me at hannah.kim at oii.ox.ac.uk I hope to hear from you soon. Thank you.
Best, Hannah --Trinityhk (talk) 08:32, 13 June 2011 (UTC)

Chicago Board of Trade Building Four Award re-review
Per request. So, you created the article. You did very little work on the article before it was nominated at T:TDYK and then at GAN, but you were the one who nominated it both times ([2][3]). Finally, you nominated it at FAC, where it failed the first time, was relisted, and passed. (You worked on it quite a bit during this time.)
Personally, I think it's iffy. The Four Award guideline that makes me the most leery is the GA requirement: "You must significantly help in improving that same article that you started/created and was displayed at the Main Page as a Did You Know..., with you being credited, to Good Article status." I really don't think you satisfied this requirement... but it's really borderline since you did nominate it at GAN...
I think I would probably let it slide, but perhaps more discussion at WT:FOUR is necessary. I know, I'm a lot of help. :/ Cheers, LittleMountain5 00:10, 14 June 2011 (UTC)

Ban removal
I personally don't think the bans were necessary and I know you're frustrated. But I can tell you right now that trying to vacate the topic bans right away isn't going to end well. I think you'll have much more success stepping back for a while, working in other areas and requesting the ban removal in about 6 months time. For better or for worse, there's a bit of a mob mentality on WP and sometimes people like to punish folks who aren't the type to kowtow and grovel. Just a friendly note. Give it 6 months to subside and fade away and you'll probably have no problem getting them removed. Night Ranger (talk) 16:38, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

Template
At Carousel (musical), you inserted (I guess technically changed) a template for Tony award winning revivals so that it covered exactly seven musicals, from 1994 to 2000. I'm a bit worried that this template, even collapsed, won't be as useful to the reader as, perhaps, a longer list of revival award winners. Doesn't it seem a bit fragmented to you?--Wehwalt (talk) 23:44, 25 June 2011 (UTC)

DYK for Shaun Deeb
On 30 June 2011, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Shaun Deeb, which you created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Shaun Deeb has two World Championship of Online Poker wins and 16 World Series of Poker in the money finishes? You are welcome to check how many hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page. |

WikiCup 2011 June newsletter
We are half way through 2011, and entering the penultimate round of this year's WikiCup; the semi-finals are upon us! Points scored in the interim (29/30 June) may be counted towards next round, but please do not update your submissions' pages until the next round has begun. 16 contestants remain, and all have shown dedication to the project to reach this far. Our round leader was Casliber (submissions) who, among other things, successfully passed three articles through featured article candidates and claimed an impressive 29 articles at Did You Know, scoring 555 points. Casliber led pool D. Pool A was led by Wizardman (submissions), claiming points for a featured article, a featured list and seven good article reviews, while pool C was led by Eisfbnore (submissions), who claimed for two good articles, ten articles at Did You Know and four good article reviews. They scored 154 and 118 respectively. Pool B was by far our most competitive pool; six of the eight competitors made it through to round 4, with all of them scoring over 100 points. The pool was led by Hurricanehink (submissions), who claimed for, among other things, three featured articles and five good articles. In addition to the four pool leaders, 12 others (the four second places, and the 8 next highest overall) make up our final 16. The lowest scorer who reached round 4 scored 76 points; a significant increase on the 41 needed to reach round 3. Eight of our semi-finalists scored at least twice as much as this.
No points were awarded this round for featured pictures, good topics or In the News, and no points have been awarded in the whole competition for featured topics, featured portals or featured sounds. Instead, the highest percentage of points has come from good articles. Featured articles, despite their high point cost, are low in number, and so, overall, share a comparable number of points with Did You Know, which are high in number but low in cost. A comparatively small but still considerable number of points come from featured lists and good article reviews, rounding out this round's overall scores.
We would again like to thank Jarry1250 (submissions) and Stone (submissions) for invaluable background work, as well as all of those helping to provide reviews for the articles listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Please do keep using it, and please do help by providing reviews for the articles listed there. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews generally at GAC, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup.
Two final notes: Firstly, please remember to state your participation in the WikiCup when nominating articles at FAC. Finally, some WikiCup-related statistics can be seen here and here, for those interested, though it appears that neither are completely accurate at this time. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges are reachable on their talk pages, or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start receiving or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. J Milburn and The ed17 23:42, 30 June 2011 (UTC)
