Summary

Description
English: Union and Confederate positions prior to Union infantry attack in Third Battle of Winchester that occurred September 19, 1864. Confederate (red) units are divisions except Wickham, Lee, and Payne are brigades.The (blue) Union corps (and Crook) consist of two or three divisions each. Wilson is a cavalry division. Arrow points to important Berryville Pike and its "canyon".

Source This map is from the unnumbered page after page 334 of the book "Loyal West Virginia from 1861 to 1865" published in 1895. TwoScarsUp has added highlights of the Union and Confederate positions plus an arrow marking the Berryville Pike and labels for the Martinsburg and Valley Pikes. Wickham and Lee's positions have also been noted per the Library of Congress Map titled "Battle field of Winchester, Va. (Opequon) [September 19, 1864]".
Author Theodore F. Lang is the source book's author. TwoScarsUp added the color highlights and minor additions.
