Latest helpline trends: Quarter 3, 2024
The most recent helpline data covers the period from July to September 2024. There were over 13,000 contacts made to the network which is a slight reduction on the previous reporting period, however during July, August and early September, many children in Europe are on holiday and some helplines typically expect the volume of contacts to be lower.
A successful peer-to-peer programme celebrates its 30th anniversary
For three decades, the "Youth counselling youth" programme has provided a reliable support point of contact for young people who need help. The initiative follows a peer-to-peer approach: every Saturday, trained youth counsellors aged 16 and older offer anonymous and free support via the Child Helpline (116 111). This peer-to-peer counselling fosters trust and enables open exchanges where young people connect as equals and share their worries. In 2023 alone, nearly 500 volunteer counsellors conducted over 4.000 counselling sessions.
Safer Internet Centre Croatia opened its third office
In November 2024, the Safer Internet Centre Croatia opened its third office in Croatia, in the city of Split, thus expanding its services to southern Croatia. The opening event was organised on World Day for the Prevention of Child Abuse.
