Online abuse – get help, report it!

Help is available – from friendly, expert teams in the network of Safer Internet Centres across Europe.  

No problem is too big or too small.  

Sextortion, cyberbullying, violent content – whatever you need to talk about, they won’t judge or be shocked. They’ll offer support, practical help, and guidance on reporting incidents. 

Help and advice

Contact your national Safer Internet Centre.

Issues handled include:

  • harmful content  
  • harmful contact (such as grooming)  
  • harmful behaviour (such as cyberbullying or sexting)
  • contract issues (where a child/young person is an online consumer)  

You can contact these free services by phone, email or chat (methods may vary by country).

Safer Internet Centres also offer guidance on reporting problems to the authorities and implementing parental controls.

Report child sexual abuse content

You can report illegal online content anonymously (without giving your name).  

Your report will be passed on to someone who can take action – an internet provider, law enforcement agency or another relevant body.

Urgent assistance

Contact the police or other emergency services (call 112 in Europe) if you or someone else is in immediate danger. 

Why does reporting matter?

Reporting matters for many reasons, but the main ones are: 

  • getting the help you need, and
  • potentially protecting others from the same thing happening to them.
