About Amica Homeowners Insurance
Amica’s home insurance policies include these standard coverage types. If you aren’t seeing the coverage that fits your needs, check out Forbes Advisor’s list of best home insurance.
- Dwelling coverage pays to repair or replace your house and attached structures (such as a porch or deck).
- Other structures coverage pays to repair or replace structures that aren’t attached to your house, such as a fence or detached garage.
- Personal property coverage pays if your personal property is damaged or stolen.
- Liability insurance pays for accidental property damage and injuries to others that you’re legally liable for. It also pays for a legal defense if you’re sued because of an incident that’s covered by your homeowners policy.
- Loss of use pays for costs, such as hotel bills and restaurant meals, if you can’t live in your home due to a problem covered by your policy (such as a fire). This coverage is also called additional living expenses.
Additional Amica Home Insurance Options
Amica offers several optional, add-on coverage types for home insurance customers:
- Dwelling extended replacement cost coverage provides an additional 30% to rebuild or repair your house if costs exceed your policy limit. This could happen if there’s a spike in construction and material costs after a disaster strikes your area (such as a wildfire).
- Personal property replacement coverage pays the full cost to replace your belongings if they are damaged by a problem covered by your policy.
- Special computer coverage provides broader coverage for smart devices, such as phones, laptops, tablets and smart TVs, from problems like power surges, heat warping and water damage.
- Water backup/sump overflow covers damage for problems related to sump pump overflow and water backups.
Amica’s Platinum Choice Home Insurance
Amica home insurance customers have the option to purchase a Platinum Choice policy, which bundles together several coverage types. This includes the coverage types listed above, as well as the following:
- Business property coverage extends your coverage limits up to $5,000 for business property at home and $2,000 for business property away from home (coverage limits vary by state).
- Valuable items extended coverage has more coverage for stolen and lost personal items, like furs, jewelry and watches.
- Liability and medical payment coverage increases your liability and medical payments coverage. The increased coverage amount varies by policy and state.
- Loss assessment plan extends coverage for property at your primary residence that you don’t solely own, such as common areas within a gated community or condo complex.
- Credit card coverage pays up to $5,000 if your credit cards are stolen and used fraudulently.
