Residents living on Israel-Lebanon border worried due to escalating tension

ARAB AL-ARAMSHE, ISRAEL - APRIL 20: Israeli Arabs living in a village on the Lebanese-Israeli border are worried about the rising tensions. Anadolu captured the Arab Al-Aramshe village, located in the mountainous region of Israel, just a few hundred meters from the Lebanese border, where there are damaged buildings and vehicles everywhere. While the balloon-launched cameras of the Israeli army monitor the border, the sounds of drones, fighter jets and howitzer shots are heard in the village with a population of approximately 1,400 people. Local Council Head Sael Saad said that the villagers were evacuated to hotels in the region on October 15. However, there are about 300-400 people in the village, including the elderly, those whose health condition does not allow them to leave and those who are engaged in animal husbandry. Saad stressed that some feel confidence and some feel anxiety with the deployment of the Israeli army in the region. "I hope the war will end as soon as possible. A humanitarian break, a ceasefire comes immediately,” he added. Tension has flared along the border between Lebanon and Israel amid intermittent exchanges of fire between Israeli forces and Hezbollah, in the deadliest clashes since the two sides fought a full-scale war in 2006. The border tension comes amid an Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip that has killed over 34,000 people following a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas last Oct. 7.
