She is such a strong and steady young woman, with a sense of right and a hidden tenderness. This book lets us get to know her half-sister Felicia better, as well as her relationship with Eli and others. I’m excited to see where this goes forward! Maybe a 4-1/2 rounded up ...more

In places it dragged a little, but it was important to learn about the people surrounding baby Charlie.
Charles Lindbergh’s approach toward parenting was extreme, even given the times. And as a nanny Betty had to walk a fine line in following instructions while still providing loving care. I appreciated that the author clarified in the prologue which items were fact and which were fiction. I’d be interested in reading more on this subject.

As it unfolds and is told in alternating POV, we learn what has lead Pippa and Gabe to this point. Not sure any of the characters are very likable, but they are complex, and the surprises are page turning. The multiple POV were a little overwhelming at first, but I ended up loving this book, which is my second by the author.
I will say that the romance took a back-seat, and the real story is Hannah connecting with her family. And vice-versa, them connecting with a sister they didn’t know about. Along the way, Hannah learns a lot about herself as well.
So far I’ve really enjoyed this author’s style, and learning more about Nigerian culture. ...more

I’m between 3.5 and 4? I held off starting it, because It Ends With Us was such an emotional, raw book. I had recently read two other emotional books and wasn’t sure I was ready for another, but my time from the library was coming due so I started it.
It was a good sequel, in that it tied up Lily & Atlas’ story, provided some interesting side characters and new story line, and gave a taste of dealing with a difficult ex. I won’t give spoilers. A lot of hate towards this book, but I enjoyed it. ...more

I always wonder about the different experiences of reading and the power of good narration, and looking at some of the bad reviews, I think the narration possibly helped this book because it was done really well.
I liked Olivia, with all of her flaws. I enjoyed the banter between her and her friend Fiona, her relationship with Liam and other relationships. Is she immature, perhaps? Unable to be honest and express her emotions to those closest to her, yes. But it’s more than a love story, it’s a journey of friends.

I’ve read her previous 2 and really enjoyed them and her portrayals of characters on the spectrum. I had just finished a very emotional book (Celeste No - our Missing Hearts), so thought a romance would be a great next-read.
I listened to the audiobook and Anna’s story is raw and heartbreaking. She has learned tools to use masks and other tools to navigate life, but learning she is on the spectrum is traumatic and freeing to her. She is also dealing with a very unsupportive family (in other reviews I’ve read that this is triggering for Asian families?), an ailing father, a career in crisis.
I’ve read that this book is written very personally by the author, and perhaps captures a sense of her journey? I just wasn’t prepared for the heaviness of it. I do also think there’s a little lack of relationship development, but I think it just wasn’t the main emphasis for the author. Just be prepared - it’s night a light hearted rom-com. ...more
