CBS Media Ventures’ new syndicated trivia game show “The Perfect Line,” which had previously been in development, is now moving forward with a pickup by the CBS station group. Cj Enm and Scott Sternberg Productions have agreed a deal under which popular Korean lifestyle show “Get it Beauty” will be adapted for the U.S. market.
The move dials into a growing wave of international success for Korean unscripted TV shows, following on from earlier success for Korean scripted dramas such as “Squid Game” and “Crash Landing on You.” It also amplifies the growing reach of Korean beauty standards and the cosmetic brands that support them.
“Get it Beauty” has run for 18 seasons in Korea since launching in 2006. It is hosted by three beauty icons, who invite beauty specialists such as physical trainers, hairdressers, and make-up artists into the studio to demonstrate their expertise to a live studio audience who actively participate in the tutorials. Scott Sternberg Productions today announced the launch of a new documentary division and the acquisition of Strong Island Films.
The first project under Ssp’s new division, Mötley Crüe’s Vince Neil: My Story, will premiere this Sunday on Reelz. Katie Couric’s upcoming memoir has made waves for shocking excerpts that have ruffled feathers in TV news circles.
Now, in her first interview about the new book, Couric gives more detail on some of the headline-making pieces — most notably, her former “Today” show co-anchor, Matt Lauer — saying that her words have been “cherry-picked and twisted” by leaked excerpts.
Couric no longer speaks to Lauer, she reveals in a new cover story with People magazine, released on Wednesday. She says she was “shocked” by the allegations, calling Lauer’s behavior “callous” and “grossly inappropriate.”
That’s not the Matt I knew,” Couric tells the magazine. “There’s a duality in human beings, and sometimes they don’t let you see both sides.”
Couric’s book says that after learning about Lauer’s behavior, she came to realize that he was a professional partner and friend to her, but a predator to others.

Thanks to everyone who chose to Be the Light at HeartShare’s 2021 Virtual Gala, HeartShare is thrilled to announce that it reached its event fundraising goal of $1M.
The Gala, which took place on April 15th, is HeartShare’s largest annual fundraising event and the $1M raised will go a long way toward supporting an annual budget that depends, in part, on contributions and donations raised from special events.
The funds will help cover unexpected and unbudgeted costs incurred due to Covid-19 and reduced government funding. Ultimately, the funds will be applied to the programs and services HeartShare provides to help people with autism and other developmental disabilities live their best lives: group homes, pre-schools, schools for children and teens with autism, day habilitation programs, vocational training programs and our recreational, family support and long-term therapy services.
“The HeartShare family is incredibly loyal and supportive,” says HeartShare President and CEO William R. Guarinello.

Exclusive: Lifetime has given a green light to Torn From Her Arms, an original movie from Ozy Media, inspired by the separation of six-year-old Jimena Madrid from her mother at the U.S. border due to the Trump administration’s zero-tolerance family separation policy. The Lifetime network is hitting a major milestone with their series of original movies “ripped from the headlines”: This year, the network celebrates its 400th “Ripped From the Headlines” feature with the one-two punch of “The Long Island Serial Killer: A Mother’s Hunt for Justice” and “Girl in the Basement.”
Deborah Norville, reporter and executive producer for “The Long Island Serial Killer,” said during the network’s Ctam Winter 2021 Press Tour that the stories they are telling are ones she covered as an anchor or reporter with “Inside Edition.” She was frustrated covering them on the air because of the lack of time available to delve into the cases. “We [were] just not able to get to the nuance,” she said. “Their lives have been upended in the most horrific…way. At the open of the Breast Cancer Research Foundation’s inaugural virtual Hot Pink Evening, the event’s lead co-chair Kinga Lampert reminded attendees that “breast cancer doesn’t stop for coronavirus and neither can we.” And, though the Bcrf’s annual fundraiser looked significantly different amid the pandemic, the show did in fact go on, raising more than $5.2 million for breast cancer research.
Elton John, Elizabeth Hurley, Karlie Kloss, Deborah Norville and Rachael Ray were among the Bcrf supporters who participated in the livestream event, with breast cancer survivors Edie Falco, Joan Lunden, Gretta Monahan, Amy Robach and Anne Thompson sharing their own experiences battling the disease.

Update: The CBS Broadcast Center in New York is slowly coming back to life even after a fourth worker tested positive for coronavirus on Friday. The drama has been playing out since Wednesday, when two employees at CBS Network News showed symptoms and tested positive. The whole building was disinfected and they’re trying to get it working as best they can. The busy production hub impacts numerous shows, including CBS Evening News, 60 Minutes, CBS Sunday Morning, Inside Edition and the local New York Evening broadcasts. Give the network credit for being changeable in crisis: the network news and CBS This Morning was quarterbacked from DC, while Deborah Norville hosted Inside Edition from her kitchen. The situation is fluid but the hope was to slowly integrate production back in the broadcast center this weekend, taking every precaution possible and getting everyone out when they’ve completed the newscasts. As “Bombshell” premiered in New York on Monday night, director Jay Roach reflected on the film’s place in the #MeToo era, especially in the wake of Harvey Weinstein’s recent headline-making interview with the New York Post (made in the midst of his much-publicized trial for sexual assault), where the disgraced producer said, “I made more movies directed by women and about women than any other filmmaker.”
“One of the things I found working on this story is there is a pattern,” Roach told Variety on the red carpet at the special screening at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Inside Edition anchor Deborah Norville is set to return to the show Monday, after surgery to remove most of her thyroid following a cancer scare.
Doctors removed the right lobe and center part of Norville’s thyroid during the April 2 surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Although the procedure was routine, it was not without risk.
“The area where the thyroid is located is also where the nerves that control your voice box are located,” Norville tells Inside Edition. “And let’s face it, I talk for a living, so it was very, very scary for me.”
Norville had her stitches removed on Friday. Her surgeon, Dr. William Kuhel, placed the stitches under her skin to minimize scarring. He says in a few months, the two-inch incision will be barely noticeable.

The fallout from rape allegations against Bill Cosby continues. According to The Hollywood Reporter, NBC has canceled a family comedy starring the 77-year-old actor. Although the show didn’t yet have a final script, many speculate that Netflix “postponing” its Thanksgiving special with the former Cosby Show star may have helped push NBC to its decision.
Rules of Engagement’s Mike Sikowitz and Shameless‘ Mike O’Malley were reportedly wanted to help write and produce the show, in which Cosby was a father of three married daughters with families. His name has been flooding headlines for the last few weeks after decade-old allegations of his sexual assault resurfaced. At the end of October, Queen Latifah and her team canceled a Cosby interview on The Queen Latifah Show due to the reports. Last week, his social media effort “Meme Me” went south quickly when Twitter users used the campaign to highlight the accusations against him.
