As you probably know, Marvel Studios is gearing up to release Wonder Man, a new series on Disney+ in December 2025. Wonder Man introduces us to Simon Williams, a Hollywood actor who gains superpowers and becomes Wonder Man.

Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, known for his roles in Aquaman and HBO’s Watchmen, takes on the lead role. Joining him is Ben Kingsley, reprising his Marvel role as Trevor Slattery. The series is expected to have eight to ten episodes.

The new year is here which means it will bring new opportunities and possibilities, and probably, Marvel Studios will get to redeem themselves. They saw a steep downfall in the last few years, and thanks to the Hollywood strike, there was only one blockbuster hit in 2024, Deadpool & Wolverine, among all the releases.

Last year, two series, Echo and Agatha All Along, and two animated series, What If…? season 3 and X-Men ’97 also premiered. But what’s in store for Marvel fans next year?

9. Wonder Man

Back in 2022, Marvel Studios had announced a live-action series Wonder Man featuring Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the titular role. Now, a few months earlier, they have declared Ben Kinsley’s return as Trevor Slattery.

In the Hulu original series "Tell Me Lies" — adapted by Meaghan Oppenheimer from Carola Lovering's book of the same name — lead Jackson White is saddled with a difficult task: he has to play the worst boyfriend anyone's ever had. As a student at the fictional Baird College (located somewhere in upstate New York) who dreams of becoming a lawyer, White's character Stephen DeMarco is odious right from the very beginning ... and his worst qualities are out in full force as he pursues freshman Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten). Early in the show's first episode, "Tell Me Lies" establishes not one but two timelines; in 2008, Stephen and Lucy attend Baird and carry on a fraught on-again, off-again relationship, and in 2015, a grown-up Lucy and Stephen are stuck attending the wedding of their friends Bree (Catherine Missal) and Evan (Branden Cook), desperately trying to avoid one another.

Kevin Feige’s MCU will be bringing back Chris Evans for the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday and with the return of Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, it seems like Marvel Studios is grasping at all strings to deliver a blockbuster. Since Avengers: Endgame, the franchise has been stumbling hard and has only had some spikes in its graph.

However, bringing back fan-favorite characters who have had their arcs completed may not be the best idea to improve the MCU. While it may have worked with Hugh Jackman in Deadpool & Wolverine, Feige needs to do something else to make the franchise great again. Author George R.R. Exclusive: Sources tell us that Emmy winner Yahya Abdul-Mateen II sustained a minor hand injury on Thursday while filming the Netflix series Man on Fire in Mexico City which forced production to pause.

Filming is expected to resume on Monday for the eight-episode drama series which is an adaptation of A.J. Quinnell’s first two books Man on Fire and The Perfect Kill, in the author’s five-novel thriller series.

Abdul-Mateen II is scheduled to return to work before production wraps for the holidays on Dec. 20, we hear. The filming schedule has been re-adjusted in the near term to work around the star’s absence. Abdul-Mateen II is also an EP on Man on Fire.

The company, which is part of Peter Chernin’s The North Road Company, has promoted Tracey Cook and Kaitlin Dahill to lead its TV division.

Actor Tony Todd, renowned for his iconic role in the Candyman horror films, has passed away at the age of 69.

Over his 40-year career, Todd portrayed the ghostly character of Candyman in the horror series. Candyman, known for having a hook for a hand, could be summoned by saying his name five times in front of a mirror. Todd originated the role in the first film released in 1992 and continued to play Candyman in sequels released in 1995 and 1999. He reprised his role in 2021 for a fourth film that serves as a direct sequel to the original.

Todd took on the iconic role of Daniel Robitaille, better known as Candyman—a tragic figure shrouded in mystery and pain. As a tortured ghost adorned with swarming bees, Candyman embodies the legacy of an African American artist and son of a slave, whose life was brutally cut short because of his forbidden love for a white woman.

Tony Todd, an American actor known for leading the “Candyman” horror franchise as its eponymous hook-wielding ghost, died Wednesday at his home in Marina Del Rey, Calif. He was 69.

Todd’s death was confirmed by a representative for the actor. A cause of death was not disclosed.

This week Marvel released a new sizzle reel highlighting its upcoming live-action and animated TV series.

Marvel has dropped a new trailer showing off footage from and sharing release dates for several high-profile TV shows (and one movie) coming to the Disney+ streaming service. Watch the trailer above!

Let's get the release dates out of the way first. Here's everything coming to Disney+ from Marvel through the end of next year:

That's a pretty hefty slate. Marvel has been accused for pumping out too much content in the past and this isn't beating the allegations. On the other hand, its latest show, Agatha All Along, has been a pretty good time, so I'll remain optimistic.

Plus, a few of the shows glimpsed in that trailer look pretty good, or at least intriguing.

Eyes of Wakanda has managed to impress fans after a teaser of the animated series gave fans a look into the animation style. It is an anthology series created by Todd Harris for Marvel Animation, consisting of four episodes. It tells the story of different Wakandan warriors who go on a quest to retrieve vibranium artifacts from different parts of the world.

The leaked teaser also revealed other Marvel projects releasing in 2025. These included What If…? Season 3, Wonder Man, Marvel Zombies, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, Daredevil: Born Again, and Ironheart. According to the teaser, Harris’ series will hit Disney+ on August 6, 2025.

In the new footage for Ironheart (which releases Tuesday, June 24 on Disney+), we see Dominique Thorne’s genius inventor Riri Williams as she aims to “build something undeniable.” The clip offers another look at her high-tech outfit (5/5, if you ask us), as she flips a massive truck and zooms past traffic à la Iron Man. But will she have to do some “questionable things” in order to achieve greatness?

Netflix’s series adaptation of Man on Fire is adding to its cast.

Alice Braga (Queen of the South, Dark Matter) and Scoot McNairy (A Complete Unknown, Halt and Catch Fire) have joined the drama as series regulars, and Paul Ben-Victor (Nobody Wants This, The Wire) will have a recurring role. Man on Fire is based on novels by A.J. Quinnell, which previously served as source material for a 2004 feature film starring Denzel Washington and a 1987 Italian film with Scott Glenn.

The series, which Netflix ordered in March 2023, centers on John Creasy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), a former special forces mercenary now suffering intense Ptsd. Determined to overcome his personal demons, he sets out on a path to redemption. But before he can adjust to this new life, he finds himself back in the fire, fighting harder than ever. Michael Bay is in talks to direct Will Smith in the Netflix action film Fast and Loose, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Fast and Loose focuses on a crime boss who loses his memory after an attack and gradually learns that he was leading a double life as a CIA agent. Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber, Chris Bremner and Eric Pearson worked on the screenplay. Jon and Erich Hoeber wrote the original script after selling their pitch to Netflix.

The movie has been in the works since before Smith’s infamous slap of Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars ceremony. THR previously reported that David Leitch had exited the project the week before the fated Academy Awards telecast to start work on The Fall Guy, the Ryan Gosling-Emily Blunt action-comedy feature that Universal released in May.
