Orson Welles' voice was dubbed into Italian by another actor.
The section entitled "La Ricotta" is featured on the 2-Disc Criterion Collection DVD for Mamma Roma (1962).
Orson Welles, who portrays a director directing a Biblical epic in this film's 'La Ricotta' story, coincidentally had directed himself in his own scenes in an actual Biblical epic, David and Goliath (1960). Welles, who portrays a king in the Biblical epic David and Goliath (1960), also narrates another Biblical epic, King of Kings (1961). Welles even narrates a portion of the Biblical work The New Media Bible: Book of Genesis (1979) as well. Also, is an uncredited writer in The Bible in the Beginning... (1966).
The title name came from the name of the four directors involved Rosselini, Godard, Pasolini and Gregoretti, not only that problems with the Church and neo-fascists.
