Days of our Lives spoilers for Friday, November 1, push Chanel towards forgiving Johnny, while Johnny pushes Joy to forget…they ever met.
Johnny on the Spot
We are totally Team Chanel (Raven Bowens) on this one. If your husband is stupid enough to believe that you are cheating on him, if he is stupid enough to literally see the alleged cheating and not realize that the woman in question isn’t his wife, and if then hears her tell him where she actually was all day but he doesn’t believe her — despite the physical evidence — then this guy isn’t just too stupid to be married. He is too stupid to live.
But all that aside, Kate (Lauren Koslow) really needs her show’s star to forgive her show’s director. The show must go on, and all that!
More: Find out what happens next week on Days.

Few directors have had as eclectic a career as Robert Schwentke. His 2002 German-language debut Tattoo — a slick Se7en-style serial-killer thriller — got the attention of Hollywood, and he initially appeared to be on the classic studio-director track, helming the Jodie Foster-starrer Flightplan, the all-star action hit Red and its sequel, and, most recently, the G.I. Joe movie Snake Eyes with Henry Golding and Andrew Koji.
But even from the start, Schwentke was a difficult director to pigeonhole. Best known for his action thrillers, he also took time to direct the romantic sci-fi drama The Time Traveler’s Wife with Eric Bana and Rachel McAdams, the supernatural comic-book adaptation R.I.P.D. with Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges, and two films in the Divergent YA sci-fi franchise with Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort.
He has also continued to make smaller, more personal, German movies. The Family Jewels, his 2003 follow-up to Tattoo, is...

Since her 2010 debut, The Family Jewels, powerhouse Welsh singer Marina Diamandis, who records under the stage name Marina and the Diamonds, has been making smart eclectic pop music often coupled with a Hollywood-glam image that’s been compared to her friend Lana Del Rey. Marina and the Diamonds’ second album Electra Heart, was assisted by A-list pop producers like Benny Blanco and Diplo. But with her third album, Froot, she took full control, writing every lyric herself; the result was her first U.S. top ten album. Now, her music...

Chicago – Films about the Nazis and the German military during World War II are numerous… except for the ones with a pure German perspective. “The Captain,” directed by Robert Schwentke (“R.I.P.D.”), is based on a true story about a German army deserter who finds a Captain’s uniform, and decides to ride out the waning days of the war with the power of an officer.
Max Hubacher is Willi Herold, the deserter, and his icy cold performance is one of the highlights of “The Captain.” Herold will stop at nothing to survive against the constant chase on the run from the German army, and once he gets a taste of officer power he is not about to let go. His journey takes him to a prison holding other deserters, and his decisions there are based on getting the assignment done quickly and to his larcenous advantage. When complications arise there,...

Donna Butterworth, a charming child actress and singer in the 1960s who co-starred with Elvis Presley in Paradise, Hawaiian Style and with Jerry Lewis in The Family Jewels, has died. She was 62.
Butterworth died March 6 at the Hilo Medical Center in Hilo, Hawaii, after a long, unspecified illness, Guadalupe Erece Jr., funeral director at Dodo Mortuary and Crematory, told The Hollywood Reporter.
In Paradise, Hawaiian Style (1966), Butterworth, then just 10, performed three songs: "Datin'," "Bill Bailey, Won't You Please Come Home" and "Queen Wahine's Papaya." The last is a lovely duet with a ukulele-strumming Elvis that gets...

Part of the Jerry Lewis tribute A Mubi Jerrython.Jerry Lewis was interviewed by members of the Documentary Film Group of the University of Chicago on January 26, 1971, while Mr. Lewis was performing at the Empire Room in Chicago, his first night club engagement in many years. The following, excerpted from several hours of tape, was edited by Myron Meisel. Photos by Bruce Rabe.Jerry Lewis: Ok—What do you want?Focus: In many of your films your characters assume several identities—in The Family Jewels you have different uncles; in Three on a Couch you assume several different disguises; and in The Nutty Professor you also had a dual identity. Why do you do this?Lewis: Well, I think it’s the most natural, simplest approach to creative writing, if you’re writing about people; and I think that most writers sorely need to understand there’s a schizo in...

Part of the Jerry Lewis tribute A Mubi Jerrython.Throughout his filmmaking career, Jerry Lewis would re-use food gags. A spoon too full forcefully inserted into an unprepared mouth, the exponential exhaustion faced at a meal never had, the exaggerated despair at food which is unsatisfactory: in these forms of jokes, the crux of Lewis’ relation to food is revealed. Using food consistently as a signifier of domestic comfort, Lewis would throughout his career take up food for emotional as well as comedic emphasis. As Herbert H. Heebert in The Ladies Man (1961), Lewis plays a youth terrified of women after finding his girlfriend has cheated on him. Ending up employed and living in an all-female boarding house, Helen Wellenmellen (Helen Traubel), the house’s owner, explains to her boarders how and why they must keep Herbert employed (a notoriously difficult hotel, they hope to keep him longer than other staff...

On August 20, 2017, Jerry Lewis took a pratfall off this mortal coil, presumably knocking an unwitting dowager on her keister and sending a surprised cop into an open manhole on his way out. The durable enfant terrible was all of 91 years when he finally left the building though he had been making spirited public appearances as recently as January of this year.
For the inquisitive Jerry fan, Shawn Levy’s 1997 King of Comedy: The Life and Art of Jerry Lewis, remains the first and last stop for the straight scoop on America’s premiere nudnik. Levy, who endured the full fury of the comedian’s legendary wrath to get his story, is as admiring of his subject’s accomplishments as he was repelled by his whiplash mood swings. The hard knock apprenticeship in the Catskills, the Freudian-fueled soap opera of his partnership with Dean Martin, the boastful sex-capades, they’re all there and then some.

Jerry Lewis inspired generations of comedians and comedic filmmakers, as many of immediate tributes in the wake of his death at 91 prove. One of the more recent directors to emerge in American cinema to cite his work is Alex Ross Perry, whose 2011 sleeper hit “The Color Wheel” was a wily black comedy that owed much to Lewis’ madcap performances. Perry’s followup, “Listen Up Phillip,” showed similar influences.
Reached for comment following the news of Lewis’ death, Perry shared the following statement on his relationship to Lewis’ work.
Whenever I would cite Jerry Lewis as an influence, I would qualify the statement by saying he inspired me more as a philosopher than a comedian. The remark would get a laugh but I would elaborate, with total sincerity. The intellectual drive of this man, from the very beginning of his career through his instantly-legendary Hollywood Reporter interview last year (his final masterpiece,...

Above: Danish poster for Geisha Boy (Frank Tashlin, USA, 1958).On March 16 Jerry Lewis turns 90 years old, making him one of the oldest living great filmmakers along with Jonas Mekas (93), Seijun Suzuki (92), Stanley Donen (91), D.A. And if you have any doubt about his status as one of the great auteurs go and see any of the films he directed at Museum of Modern Art's’s current retrospective: Happy Birthday, Mr. Lewis: The Kid Turns 90.To flip through the films of Jerry Lewis in poster form is to encounter an awful lot of crossed eyes, toothy grins and outsized heads on small bodies (a familiar trope for comedians in movie posters whether it's Fernandel or Cantinflas or Buster Keaton.) That said, Lewis also seems to have inspired illustrators around the world. The French love Jerry Lewis, as the cliché goes, but so, it seemed, did the Germans,...

Perhaps his greatest innovation was as a filmmaker. Taken together, movies such as The Bellboy, The Ladies Man, The Errand Boy, The Nutty Professor, The Patsy, and The Family Jewels form a breathtaking virtual dictionary of every aspect of what is important and essential to the language of comedic film. Infinite Anticipation
Here at the Vienna International Film Festival there are no multiplexes devoted to the festival. Every cinema is a single screen—all quite beautiful and some, like the Urania, Metro, Künstlerhaus, and Austrian Film Museum, very special indeed—and, scattered at a bit of a distance from one another, they trace a lopsided kind of ellipsis, a loop of cinema if you plan your itinerary right.
Above: Out 1, noli me tangere.
I came anticipating this particular suggestion of cinematic infinity, not just because of my memories of the last two years of repeatedly treading this touring path around the constrained city center of Vienna, but because of the promise of a much desired (by Jonathan Rosenbaum since 1996, and thereafter by an untold multitude of tantalized cinephiles) festival pairing of Jacques Rivette and Suzanne Schiffman's improvised serial intended for television, Out 1, noli me tangere (1971), and Louis Feuillade's...

Marina Lambrini Diamandis -- aka Marina and the Diamonds ("the Diamonds" refers to her fans, not her bandmates) -- surged onto the music scene two years ago when she released her debut album, "The Family Jewels," and snagged the runner up position on the BBC's influential Sound of 2010 poll.
Listeners were charmed by her slightly off-kilter, left-of-center pop songs like "I Am Not A Robot," which were sonic relief from the endless buffet of dance pop and hip hop that ruled and continues to dominate radio airplay.
For her second album, "Electra Heart," Marina threw fans a curveball and presented them with a collection of songs draped in the very dance pop that she had eschewed on her first outing. However, rather than writing "drunk in the club" lyrics, as she puts it, the personal and slyly tongue-in-cheek album obsessively explores themes of sex, love, fame, betrayal and the complexities...

Welcome to Marina’s minimalist dungeon filled with, well, very little more than brooding intent. Oh and some very fetching blinds.

First there was The Family Jewels and a runner up spot in the BBC Sound of 2010 list, so far so good. 3 top 40 singles and a top 5 album isn’t so bad but not what Marina wanted or probably expected after the whole hype brigade there was. So back to the drawing board a.k.a. blonde wigs, Calvin Harris-esque dance sound (courtesy of Stargate) and the most mainstream, on-trend single by her to date. Gene Simmons finally popped the question to Shannon Tweed — and we now know the answer thanks to TMZ – yes! The Family Jewels stars have a big family and will finally unite the two becoming the Tweed-Simmons.
And after almost three decades together, these lovebirds still manage to keep their sense of humor.
The children of the soon-to-be newlyweds sent out a rather sarcastic and witty invitation on the behalf of Gene, 61, and Shannon, 54, stating “After 28 years of loose strings, our parents have finally decided to tie the knot… Our mother will share our horrendous hyphenate of a last name and our father’s life … well, it doesn’t change that much.”
Comical and cute!

Before this weekend, Kevin Smith was always known as a comedy guy. "Clerks," "Chasing Amy," "Zack and Miri Make a Porno," plus his Smodcast podcast and Q&A-slash-stand-up films like "An Evening With Kevin Smith." He stretched himself a little into drama, animation, and acting, but until his new film "Red State" -- available now on VOD -- the scariest thing Kevin Smith had ever directed was "Jersey Girl" (I kid).
The transition from comedy to horror is rarely an easy one for directors. Few guys as entrenched in the comedy genre as Smith have ever tried to break out of it, and even fewer have made their break successfully. Here are five interesting -- and very different -- examples of horror movies made by guys we'd typically classify as comedy directors. We'll get to see soon enough how Smith's big move compares with theirs.

Jerry Lewis is an American institution in film, directing, philanthropy and dance, and he is a creative engineer of sorts whose pioneering work in refining the designs for the Video Assist Machine back in 1960 revolutionized how crew worked and monitored captured footage. It.s Jerry.s 85th birthday Wednesday, March 16th, and Encore announces that .The King of Comedy. will be honored late summer with a feature-length original documentary, which is currently in production. From Encore: The documentary will uncover the influence that Lewis has had on the entertainment industry and his relevance today, as evidenced recently by the announcement that three of his films are being remade: The Bellboy, Cinderfella, and The Family Jewels. Last month, Jerry Lewis made news when he agreed to sell the remake rights to three of his classic ’60s Paramount comedies — 1960′s The Bellboy, 1960′s Cinderfella, and 1965′s The Family Jewels. It isn’t the first time that Hollywood has envisioned dollar signs in the 84-year-old legend’s vault. In 1996, Universal remade Lewis’ classic The Nutty Professor with Eddie Murphy, which ended up being a huge box-office hit, launching a Klumps franchise. Afterwards, Lewis expressed mixed feelings about the films’ fart jokes and cheap laughs. All of which makes his recent deal a bit surprising. But in an exclusive interview,...

Comedian Jerry Lewis has signed a deal with Artificial Intelligence Entertainment and Social Capital Films to remake three of his most successful comedies from his heyday in the 60's reports Variety.
The companies have acquired remake rights from Lewis to the titles in Lewis' Paramount library which were given back to him in the 1970's. They plan to develop contemporary remakes of "The Bellboy," "Cinderfella" and "The Family Jewels" with each to be considered as a potential franchise for a major comedy star.
Christopher Tuffin, John Baca and George Paige will produce while Lewis will serve as co-executive producer on the films. Tuffin says "What we're aiming to do is combine the spirit of the originals with a modern sensibility."
"The Bellboy" is a slapstick piece following a dysfunctional bellboy who runs amok in a five-star hotel. "Cinderfella" is a comedy version of the Cinderella story with several of the roles reversed.

Can anyone ever duplicate that immortal whine Jerry Lewis uttered in his wacky 1963 comedy 'Who's Minding the Store'?
Artificial Intelligence Entertainment and Social Capital Films think so. They've just acquired remake rights from Lewis to 'The Bellboy,' 'Cinderfella,' 'The Family Jewels,' 'The Errand Boy,' 'The Patsy' and 'Who's Minding the Store,' with an immediate emphasis on bringing to the big screen the first three titles.
All those films were made in the 1960s, when Lewis was at his peak -- from 1961 to 1964 he was the No. 1 box office draw in America.

British host Jonathan Ross said in a radio interview that his daughter Betty Kitten is a lesbian, and that he loves and supports her.

Jerry Lewis films Cinderfella, The Bellboy, and The Family Jewels are set for remakes. I’m not a huge fan of Jerry Lewis comedy to start with, and his recent antics in the press make him less appealing. I'm not so keen on these remakes, though I’d be completely in support of a totally gay take on Cinderfella.

My first reaction to this morning’s news that a trio of classic Jerry Lewis comedies is being remade was: Yesss! Then, after a while, my brain started downshifting to Oh Nooo! You see, I’m a huge Jerry Lewis freak. And no, I’m not French. If you’ve never seen Lewis’ manic and masterful string of comedies for Paramount in the ’60s, then you might have a hard time buying into my belief that the guy is a flat-out genius. But these movies weren’t just hilarious showcases for his unleashed man-child pratfalls, deadpans, and doubletakes (there’d...

Lewis' Comedy Remakes Heading To The Big Screen
Jerry Lewis' slapstick humour is heading back to the big screen - the funnyman has signed a deal to remake his most successful comedies.
Artificial Intelligence Entertainment and Social Capital Films have acquired the remake rights from Lewis to develop his 1960s films The Bellboy, Cinderfella and The Family Jewels with a modern twist.
The comedian, 84, will serve as co-executive producer on the films.
Producers Christopher Tuffin, John Baca and George Paige aim to develop each revamp as a franchise for a major comedy star.
Tuffin tells Daily Variety, "What we're aiming to do is combine the spirit of the originals with a modern sensibility."
Casting had yet to begin as WENN went to press.

Will A Single Man overcome Monsters? Can Rumer conquer Mount Kimbie? Here are the nominees
An alien invasion movie, a stately adaptation of a Christopher Isherwood story about a man in mourning, a vibrant piece of UK hip-hop and the debut from Burt Bacharach's latest protege are among the contenders for this year's Guardian First Film and First Album awards, the shortlists for which are announced today.
The awards – won last year by Gideon Koppel for Sleep Furiously, his documentary about a dying Welsh hill village, and the xx for their eponymous album – reward the best film made by a first-time director from anywhere in the world, and the best debut album from a British artist. Koppel and the xx will be among the judges for the 2010 awards.

The combined resumes of the cast of Red is staggeringly impressive, and having Bruce Willis lead a crew not particularly known for lighter fare drives the feel and flavor of a film that might easily have had no ability to find footing. Yet another graphic novel translation, this one brings us an older collection of action heroes, branded Retired Extremely Dangerous, and the mix of “changing of the guard” and “distaste for the new guard,” gives us a broader landscape than most action-oriented bits of fun.
Frank Moses (Willis) is getting on in years, at least from a spy game perspective if no other, and the best he’s managed in the normal life department is a relationship over the phone with Sarah (Mary-Louise Parker), who he calls repeatedly at work just for the chance to chat. When a Black Ops squad shows up at his door, he’s suddenly...

Good, breezy fun, Red, which opens wide across the Us today, is satisfying as throwaway entertainment, but it's even more interesting as a pluperfect example / warning signal of what can happen to European directors who want to make films in Hollywood.
Director Robert Schwentke, born in Germany, made his feature debut with Tattoo in 2002, a dark and tasty serial killer movie. It was pulpy and propulsive; the glossy sheen of the photography played in counterpoint to the ghoulish details of the death scenes, and August Diehl gave an edgy performance as the lead investigator. Schwentke, who penned the script, had previous experience writing for the venerable German TV show Tatort, and it felt like he'd stored up ideas until he could make his own movies.
His next film, The Family Jewels, a comedy about testicular cancer, did not make as many stops on the festival circuit as Tattoo, and all...

One-woman act Marina and the Diamonds is inspired by Michael Jackson in "Shampain" music video. During a boozy night, the 24-year-old Welsh singer/songwriter has a weird dream of wandering around the park with female zombies following her. At one point, they even break into a dance sequence seen in the late King of Pop's legendary "Thriller" music video.
Filmed in London, the clip is directed by Kim Gehri who has directed videos for Goldfrapp, Chase & Status, and Wiley featuring Mark Ronson. "Thank you, London, for your clear sky & full moon. We made you something special," so she tweeted last month after the filming was wrapped.
"Shampain" is taken from Marina's debut album "The Family Jewels" which has been released since February this year. "[It's about] the depressing side of getting drunk, the obliteration side of having a good time," she said of the song. "It's about insomnia and the joys of champagne.

You may not have heard of Marina & the Diamonds, but you will. There’s been a buzz growing about the Welsh act that has only gotten louder following gigs at SXSW. After her sold-out show at the Troubadour in Los Angeles last night, it’s easy to see why. Marina is Marina Diamondis. The Diamonds refers not her backing band, but to her fans (Hey, if Lady GaGa can have her monsters, Marina can have her diamonds). Her May album, “The Family Jewels,” is chock full of pop delights like “Oh, No,” “I am Not a Robot,” “Obsessions,” and “Shampain,” but...

Album of the Week (2010/05/18)
Janelle Monįe, ‘The ArchAndroid’ (Wondaland Arts Society/Bad Boy)
If Janelle Monįe would just settle down and conform to the stereotypical Beyonce-style soul music, she would have a huge career ahead of her. She is not interested in that though, oh no, this chick is pushing the boundaries. I mean, when did you last hear a Beyonce song in which the arrangements referenced Star Wars? That’s right, never!
‘The ArchAndroid’ switches genres and vocal styles in a kind of schizophrenic overture that leaves you breathless and wanting more. This is a masterpiece, pure and simple. Don’t just take my word for it though, listen to snippets of the album below.
The National, ‘High Violet’ (4Ad)
Sometimes an album comes out and gets such epic reviews that you immediately run out to purchase it, take it home, give it a listen, and think “What the hell is this?...

Paramount and Nickelodeon have hired screenwriter Peter Ackerman (Ice Age) to adapt the Jerry Lewis 1965 comedy The Family Jewels for remake status, Variety reports. The original comedy had Lewis playing six uncles who were vying to adopt their heiress niece, who had just come into a $30 million fortune; Lewis also played the girl's chauffeur, her one true friend. Eve Ahlert and Dennis Drake (Down with Love) had already done a treatment for The Family Jewels, which Ackerman will now take over.
