Once upon a streaming war, HBO Max flexed its financial muscles like never before. Back in 2019, WarnerMedia’s shiny new platform was all set to dish out $1.5B to secure The Big Bang Theory and Two and a Half Men.

Why so pricey, you ask? These CBS heavyweights had never graced any streaming platform in full before. This was brand-new territory unlike Friends and The Office, which had already made their rounds on Netflix. And brand-new meant big bucks. HBO Max aimed to make these two household favorites exclusive, drawing sitcom fans by the millions.

Deadline reported that The Big Bang Theory alone was expected to fetch $1 billion. Throw in Two and a Half Men, and the deal’s value boosted to $1.5B. For context, HBO Max had shelled out $425M for Friends, and NBCUniversal had snagged The Office for over $500M.

Chuck Lorre and Charlie Sheen had a falling out at the peak of Two and a Half Men, which led to the abrupt firing of Sheen. Instead of recasting the iconic character, the show decided to kill him off. The show brought in Ashton Kutcher’s billionaire character Walden Schmidt to replace Charlie Harper. While sitcoms once dominated the small screen, they don’t enjoy the same status since the rise of prestige TV, and the boom of streaming has further added to this notion. But amidst the shifting climate in the TV landscape, Chuck Lorre, who deservingly enjoys the status of king of sitcoms, has kept the format relevant, thanks to hits like The Big Bang Theory and its spin-offs.

Diane Delano, best known to TV audiences for her roles as Barbara Semanski on CBS’ Northern Exposure, and Roberta “Bobbi” Glass on The WB’s Popular, has died of cancer at the age of 67, TVLine has confirmed.

Evidently, the entire responsibility of the show fell on Cryer’s shoulders, who in many interviews detailed why working with Sheen is no longer a possibility, even shutting down reunion rumors. While this is their current scenario, in the past Cryer detailed a very sarcastic yet heartwarming anecdote about Sheen.

Artists and storytellers in their own right, these craftspeople channel intense emotions and experiences into performances that help us empathize with the world.

Unfortunately, however, it seems this sort of job attracts intense, eccentric personalities as well. As a consequence, actors can be difficult to work with and, at times, inexcusably horrible even to their closest peers. Though some of them may claim their abuses as part of a grander process -- mere speed bumps on the journey to truth-telling -- the effect they have on the vulnerable people around them cannot be dismissed.

In the cases we found specifically, the actions of the actors have been publicly called into question by their scene partners, further disproving that much of this behavior is normal...

When it comes to characters’ finances, especially in sitcoms, things don’t always add up. NBC’s Friends is also not immune to financial inconsistencies, especially during its early seasons. For instance, the sitcom doesn’t completely tackle how Rachel, Joey, and Phoebe are able to live an expensive lifestyle in New York with jobs, which won’t typically afford such a living.
