Poor execution spoils excellent plot.
Starts slow. Scenes are disconnected. The movies becomes unbearable in 20 mins.
Sad for Jimmy Shergill.

Sad for Jimmy Shergill.
I watched Collar Bomb in orig. Hindi w/Eng. Subs on Disney+Hotstar.
The basic crime plot is pretty good ... The film is set in Sanawar, Himachal Pradesh. Sr. Inspector Manoj Hesi(Jimmy Shergill) is being felicitated at a memorial for a deceased student Neha, at a prestigious Sanawar school. Neha a teenager went missing while strolling in the woods with her classmate. The classmate told the police that someone tried to molest them and while trying to escape, Neha went missing. The police found her body in a deep well where she had apparently fallen. Hesi and his jr Negi (Ajit S Palawat) saw a young boy running through the woods. Thinking him to be the suspect, they caught and beat him so badly that he died. They then both shot him in the back to make it look like he was escaping. The post mortem Dr is persuaded to state that Neha was molested by the dead boy. A botched up case is successfully closed as solved. Nobody else knows the truth. Cut back to the memorial where suddenly there is a shooting and a teacher gets injured while a young boy looking like a fully armed suicide bomber Ali (Sparsh Srivastav) with a device on his collar, pounces into the scene. The boy makes various bizarre demands that are to be fulfilled if the children are allowed to leave the hall alive. Hesi convinces Ali that he will get the demands fulfilled and is allowed to proceed.
The rest of the film though engrossing, goes thereafter to bizarre and way too convoluted. A lot of unseemly incidents have been going on in ostensibly peaceful Sanawar which come to light. Eventually the bomber is disarmed but the truth about the police encounter killing of Neha's purported molester gets exposed and Hesi is convicted. But the truth about Neha's death is something else altogether. Watch the film to find out more.
This could have been an excellent crime thriller if it had not got so bizarrely convoluted.

A simple and effective plot - A cop races against time to stop a suicide bomber holding school children hostage. The bomber forces the cop to commit illegal acts in order to save the children, and there is a twist in all of this.
"Collar Bomb" is thriller with nice story on paper but it has been poorely executed. Despite the film's intriguing concept, direction and execution are very poor and choppy.
Director Dnyanesh Zoting not able to create that necessary tension and thrill element in this one. The film looses its steam from start itself which is very very slow and the climax is just bad.
Performance wise Jimmy Sheirgill, the only strong point in the movie is very impressive as a cop. He try to carry the film but at the end of the day the writing and direction was very bad.
All in all this is a avoidable thriller. Very poorely made film.

Poor direction, listless acting by Jimmy Shergill.
Frankly gave up after 20 minutes of viewing.
Total waste of time.

These makers had a gem of a plot in their hand but sadly a poor execution lets down the film.
I will be very honest, the film is quite fast paced, short and interesting as well and keeps you guessing who is behind the suicide bomber but very soon it becomes to some extent predictable. I mean they shouldn't have even shown glimpses of Shergill's past which 50% spills the beans but but.....you still wont know who RITA might be until the film actually discloses it (which is why i said 50% spilled the beans) .
The climax is very poorly written which otherwise had immense potential to be a really heart pulling one (short spoiler, you might just be reminded of RATSASAN the film once the secrets are disclosed).
Performance by Shergill is good no doubt. Sparsh as the clueless rookie terrorist is also good the way he acts he makes sure he looks a rookie.
Many things have no explanation as well. Hence Collar Bomb just stays an average suspense thriller which you can watch as a timepass.

I stopped watching after the above said scene. Sad to see filmmakers taking artistic liberty with the secular values of Hindus. Please try this with any other religious group across the world.

Hype created.. disappointed ending..could have been better acting of some actors. Though suspense couldn't reach to its end at it should be.

Copy and paste the plot of the true crime documentary series, Evil Genius, and put it into a fiction format and yet miserably failed to create intrigues n thrill of Evil genius. Thats the summary of COLLAR BOMB. Now go watch Evil Genius if you still have not watched it.

It's an amazing thriller. I agree not the best one till date but still taking into account that it's 90mins with no interval, the story and acting and everything else is really good.
Jimmy Shergill is as amazing as ever and Asha Negi, Rajshri Deshpande etc have also a decent job.
When I watched it, I was glued to my seat for the entire duration. It's certainly gripping, enthralling and novel in the concept.
As far as predictability goes, no one should expect it to be only a cluster of surprises later dissolving in the end. That format is old-fashioned. This is a recent format for Hollywood thrillers which make people believe that the story is going on certain lines and then the climax breaks through all the predictions.
Jimmy Shergill is shining as handsome and smart as he always is. Please watch it for him. It's high time bollywood pays its dues to the truly deserving and humble actors.

Collar bomb is an edge of the seat thriller movie. Though the movie throws some twists at you yet it comes off as an above average product.
Acting:jimmy shergill is one man who is just a master at portraying shady and grey cop characters. Never feel tired of watching him on screen. Asha negi and rajshri deshpande put forth commendable performances in their limited screen space. I was thoroughly impressed with asha negi. Naman jain and sparsh srivastav are the upcoming stars. They are so good.
Concept:the concept of race against time and the cycle of life and consequences of one's own decisions is interesting on paper. I wish it would hv been made better.
Poor direction:the direction is really poor. The writing too could hv been better. The characters other than jimmy shergill are not at all developed. But the direction in majority lets down the concept.
Editing and running length: there are too many sequences which will make u gasp for logic but u won't find any. The editing is too sharp. Could hv easily increased 30 odd minutes to build up the conclusion properly.
Loopholes:there are many loopholes in the plot which remain unanswered.
It could hv been another below average product if there was no jimmy shergill in it but this man parks the car safely. I rate it 6 out of 10.

Anwar says: It is not necessary that good intentions translates into a good movie and the discredit goes mainly to the Screenplay writer Nikhil Nair and of course the director Dnyanesh Zoting of this 86 minutes long movie streaming on Disney Hotstar.
Jimmy Shergil , the cute little boy , of Machis or Saheb of Saheb, Biwi aur Gangster disappoints with his flat surface performance. Asha Negi as woman cop , recently seen in LUDO, played her character with conviction.
Failed to understand as to why the Muslim name is compulsorily associated with terrorism, even if the story doesn't demand so, and Collor Bomb is no exception.
Cinematography is top class in the beautiful city of Sanawar. The movie moved with fast pace but at many places lost the track. Both Nair and Zoting should sit and think, what went wrong before planning any new venture. A lot of time of the viewers would be wasted in understanding the twists and turns and they are hardly hooked to the story.
In short, pass 😔
