When editing videos, I often consider accessibility standards like font types, sizes, and colors for lower thirds and graphic elements. Color combinations can easily be run through free accessbility checkers like WebAIM (webaim.org) or Adobe Color (color.adobe.com), and recommendations for font choices can be found through a quick Internet search. Additionally, consider the length of time any text is displayed on-screen. A good rule of thumb is allowing enough time to read through the text at least twice. These practices combined with utilizing subtitles are just a few ways to help you start crafting accessible content.

To successfully captivate audiences, whether niche or broad, creators should balance elements that are both familiar and novel to the target audience. The familiar elements give the audience something to connect to, while the novel elements excite them enough to stick around and remember the content. For instance, for a D&D-themed comedy channel, I innovated a new series by balancing traditional tabletop roleplay elements (familiar to their niche), with a presentation and production process tailored for the platform's unique format restraints (the novel). The series, 60 Second Dungeon, boosted their subscriber count +10% in just 24 hours, and the average episode exceeded every median channel KPI, from +157% to +471%.

I prioritize both creativity and accessibility by using innovative content strategies while ensuring accessibility through tools like YouTube for transcribing and closed captions. This approach allows me to produce engaging and visually appealing videos that are also inclusive, ensuring all viewers, including those with disabilities, can fully enjoy and understand the content. By integrating accessibility features from the start, I ensure that the creative elements enhance rather than hinder the overall viewer experience.

When designing a concept I'm always trying to distill it down to its core essence, what it has that resonates with my core principles. Once I'm into the scripting and pre-prod phase I work to make the message as clear as possible while staying true to the original concept. One of the things I strive to do is reveal what the end of the video will be in the first 5 seconds, and then I use the journey to that end to create a novel experience. This allows instant recognition of the video's subject matter while also giving me the artistic freedom to choose a novel path to reach it.
