I try to focus on remaining empathetic and neutral. Getting them to speak on the issue, together, will often lead to their coming to common ground, naturally. I will throw in common goals as I understand them to remind them this is not "a battle of egos", but rather a collaborative effort to get to the resolution that is best for the situation and to the overall business.
