Say cheese! ALDI brought the ultimate festive experience to Chicago’s West Loop this week with our exclusive Charcuterie Chalet pop-up! Show-stopping boards filled with ALDI premium meats, cheeses, and more, were in every corner— yes, that’s a cheese carving of the Chicago skyline (we even included The Bean!) We featured a variety of different boards paired with ALDI wines, like the $50 ALDI board which includes Appleton Farms Dry-Cured Ham Prosciutto and Emporium Selection Double Gloucester Cheese. It’s a gourmet feast for half the price of those other guys 😉 We hope those who came out to the event (and you!) feel inspired to create their own affordable ALDI charcuterie boards to share this holiday season. As grocery prices have jumped by double digits over the past few years, people have felt the sting. For many, ALDI USA has been a source of solace. A recent The Motley Fool analysis found that a basket of 20 products that cost about $65 at Aldi was $11 more at Kroger and about $54 more at Whole Foods Market. Though Aldi isn't the biggest grocery chain in the US — according to Euromonitor International, it captured just 1.4% of US grocery sales last year, compared with Walmart's 25% — it offers a lot of things shoppers are looking for these days: organic meat, store brands, and a quick shopping trip. As a result, it has attracted loyal fans who proudly sport Aldi-branded tote bags, pants, and flip-flops. And it's the fastest-growing grocery chain in America by new store openings, a title it has held for five years, according to the real-estate services company JLL. The US grocery business is ruthless. Competition is fierce, and profit margins are slim. Many have tried and failed to find success.
