We are thrilled to announce that HCA Florida Citrus Hospital has received accreditation under the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Commission on Cancer (CoC) Accreditation Program. “Achieving accreditation from the Commission on Cancer reflects the dedication and expertise of our entire medical team,” said general surgeon Dr. Torr Carmain. “This milestone ensures that our cancer patients receive the highest standard of care, from the latest treatment options to a full spectrum of support services, all designed to guide them through their recovery journey.” CoC accreditation is granted to institutions committed to providing high-quality cancer care by demonstrating compliance with the CoC standards. Each cancer program must undergo a rigorous evaluation and review of its performance and compliance with the CoC standards. As one of the largest healthcare networks in the state, HCA Florida Healthcare offers advanced care to more than 8.6 million patients each year at 650+ locations. We thank all of our colleagues for their ongoing commitment to providing high-quality patient care and delivering consistently exceptional outcomes. #HCAFloridaHealthcare #HealthierTomorrows #RaiseTheBar

The lifesaving care of a Good Samaritan and emergency response team made all the difference when Drew Overlee went into cardiac arrest while on a run a few days before Christmas and his 64th birthday. He dropped to the ground near a business on Bloomingdale Avenue in Valrico, Florida. “In the event of a heart attack, rapid response and CPR training to the emergency is critical to saving lives. After hearing this story, it reinforces the importance of CPR training in our community so everyone can be prepared in a cardiac emergency,” said Brandy Provencher, Director of Cardiovascular Services at Brandon Hospital. On May 24, 2024, Drew met his good Samaritan for the first time and reunited with his caregivers outside the ambulance entry at HCA Florida Brandon Hospital. We’re grateful for the lifesaving care and compassion our community and colleagues show in delivering safe, accurate care to our patients. #HCAFloridaHealthcare #CareLikeFamily #WeShowUp®

HCA Healthcare colleagues continually inspire us through their unwavering dedication and remarkable resilience. Today, we’re thrilled to congratulate Amber Jones, emergency nurse at HCA Florida Healthcare on joining our team of more than 99,000 compassionate nurses across HCA Healthcare. In 2016, Amber was involved in a life-altering car accident that left her paralyzed from the waist down. The Florida mother of six didn’t let this diminish her dream of pursing nursing. Following her accident, this passion for nursing grew and she enrolled at Galen College of Nursing, a part of HCA Healthcare and one of America’s leading educators of nurses. Amber made a lasting impact by becoming the first paraplegic student to graduate from Galen College of Nursing in Florida. Her achievement is a testament to her determination and the power of the inclusive learning environment available at Galen. Through adaptive resources and supportive faculty, Galen helped Amber find ways to meet the demands of her clinical training, allowing her to build confidence and competence. “I am just very blessed and very thankful to be able to have the opportunity to practice my skills,” Amber explained. “Anything is possible. You just have to put in the work.” Amber embodies the power of perseverance and the belief that dreams are attainable, no matter the obstacles. “Despite whatever happens to you, it’s possible to be something still and follow your dreams.” Please join us in celebrating Amber’s accomplishments and wishing her well in her nursing career! The holidays can be a lonely time for patients in the hospital. But our nurses are there, day after day, caring for (and treating) our patients like family. As we approach the end of the year and the season of thankfulness, we are moved by our patients who remain thankful for the work we do and the way we cared for them like family. We captured those words on video. The impact that our caregivers make by demonstrating compassion and working together to heal and improve lives is unparalleled. Thank you for being their heroes, and ours. #HCAFloridaHealthcare #PositiveImpact #CareLikeFamily

This Giving Tuesday, HCA Florida Healthcare is proud to highlight our ongoing commitment to supporting local organizations that make a difference. HCA Florida Putnam Hospital donated $10,000 to Epic-Cure, Inc., a vital food bank serving the Palatka community, to assist with their urgent need to relocate. Leaders from HCA Florida Putnam Hospital joined Epic-Cure co-founder and Executive Director Sunny Mulford for a special check presentation. This donation reflects our mission to foster healthier, more resilient communities across Florida. “Epic-Cure’s food bank and pantry represent hope and dignity as well as nutritious meals for families facing tough times,” said HCA Florida Putnam Hospital CEO Landon Smith. “I am grateful HCA Florida Putnam Hospital is able to help keep this organization and its important work in Palatka.” Our collective efforts to care for our neighbors extend beyond the hospital walls. We are excited to announce a three-year partnership aimed at expanding healthcare career pathways for economically disadvantaged high school students across the state.
