We're excited to share that The Fair Play Policy Institute and University of Southern California Public Exchange & Center for the Changing Family have worked together to create one of the first studies to quantify cognitive labor and its impact on maternal mental health! Their research finds that Fair Play doesn’t just help us understand domestic labor imbalances, but it can make mothers healthier and happier, too. Explore the findings here: https://lnkd.in/eswmPpra Thanks to Eve Rodsky, Jenn Younker, Darby Saxbe, Sujeet R., Doug Messer, Kate Weber, USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences #PublicExchange, and so many more for helping make this research possible!

You’re not imagining it, moms – many of you really are doing it all. A new University of Southern California Public Exchange & Center for the Changing Family study shows mothers report greater responsibility than their partners for the cognitive labor of 29 out of 30 household tasks and the physical labor for 28 of the 30 tasks. And this imbalance isn’t just a small detail—it has a big impact, significantly affecting moms’ health by adding “invisible” tasks to their overall workload. Beyond the physical chores, the mental load—anticipating, planning, and coordinating these tasks—adds stress, deeply affecting women’s mental health, relationships, and work-life balance. Our partnership with the The Fair Play Policy Institute explores this imbalance and how to address it. Through an innovative study with over 500 participants, we found: ✔️ Equitable task-sharing improves mental health. ✔️ Reduced burnout from task-sharing leads to stronger relationships. ✔️ Cognitive labor is just as impactful as physical chores, if not more. It’s time to take the invisible workload seriously. 🔗 Visit our study webpage for full findings and insights. https://lnkd.in/gNENmPUf Eve Rodsky Jenn Younker Darby Saxbe Elizabeth Aviv Sujeet R. • A huge congratulations to our Founder, Reese Witherspoon, and Hello Sunshine's President of Film and TV, Lauren Neustadter, on being named to The Hollywood Reporter's 2024 Women in Entertainment Power 100! “It was a busy year of filming and dealing for Witherspoon’s prolific shingle. While shooting the latest season of The Morning Show, whose third installment saw her Emmy-nominated for acting and producing, she set a Legally Blonde prequel series at Amazon and dropped a few unscripted projects on various streamers (The Pasta Queen finally got her own show!). With Neustadter guiding creative, the duo will kick off 2025 with feature comedy You’re Cordially Invited.” Read the full feature here: https://lnkd.in/eG5v5dAA

  • Today is #GivingTuesday! We're excited to amplify Stronger Than You Think, a foundation helping people in need of financial assistance for prosthetics and with water safety founded by #HelloSunshineCollective member Ali Truwit. Ali is a Para Swimmer who won two silver medals in Paris in 2024 after surviving a shark attack in 2023. Read on to learn more about Ali's story, and support Stronger Than You Think's mission directly by donating here: https://lnkd.in/eQ38he5W TURNING TRAUMA INTO HOPE with Ali Truwit "Statistically speaking, I had a better chance of being struck by lighting than I did being attacked by a shark and losing a limb. The odds of me making and medaling at the Paralympics within roughly a year of the attack and amputation were even lower. Nothing about my life over the last 18 months makes sense; nothing, except using my story to help others. For anyone going through hardship or trauma, this message is for you. I learned the hard way this last year, perhaps like you, that life can knock us down, but I also learned that we can rise back up. A big part of rising back up for me meant making meaning out of hardship by founding my nonprofit https://lnkd.in/eV5rKrU2. The foundation focuses on giving prosthetics to people who can’t afford them, supporting water safety efforts, and aiding para activities. Focusing efforts around the clear and urgent need — how shockingly expensive prosthetics are, how many preventable drownings occur a year, and how much para sports empower thousands in the disability community — has motivated me to donate my Paralympic medal earnings to the foundation. I believe knowing my 'why' and leading by example will light the path to the future where strongerthanyouthink.org is a known name and millions of people benefit from it. Fundraising is always difficult, however, and I am looking for donors to accelerate our growth. You can learn more about the foundation and how to donate at https://lnkd.in/eV5rKrU2." https://lnkd.in/erDHWt2V

NEVER LOSE SIGHT OF WHY YOU STARTED by Carmeon Hamilton "To my younger self: As someone who went to college to be a physical therapist but found themselves running a 6-figure interior design company and winning a competition on a reality show 15 years later, I have so much that I want to go back and tell my younger self… 'Hey there, young dreamer. You’re about to step into a world where your passion will become your purpose. Remember to embrace the pivot and trust your instincts — they’ll guide you in ways no rulebook ever could. You’ll face moments that test your resolve, but know that resilience is what builds the most beautiful rooms in your life and career.
