#Students and #RecentGrads: Big changes to the federal government's #PathwaysPrograms take effect today to boost opportunities for early career talent such as you! Here are some of the highlights: -Agencies can now hire #RecentGraduates at a GS-11 starting salary instead of being limited to a GS-09 starting salary, affording enhanced flexibility to applicants and agencies. -Applicant eligibility for the Recent Graduates program has expanded to include individuals who may or may not have college degrees, but who have completed qualifying career or technical education programs, including Peace Corps, AmeriCorps, Job Corps, and Registered Apprenticeships. -Agencies can now convert #interns to a permanent federal position after they complete a minimum of 480 hours in their internship, instead of 640 hours. Check out the complete list of changes, with which federal agencies must be in full compliance no later than December 9, 2024: https://lnkd.in/ekdbrfD8

Supporting Liberia: A Decade of Dedication by MAJ John M. Saindon For the past 10 years, MAJ John M. Saindon, a dedicated member of U.S. Africa Command's Office of the Surgeon, has been at the forefront of health support efforts in Liberia, focusing on disaster response and strengthening the country's health systems. In 2014, MAJ Saindon was deployed as an Ebola Virus Emergency Responder with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, serving as a Laboratory Advisor in collaboration with the WHO/UN Global Outbreak Response Network (GOARN). Over three years, he worked closely with the Liberia Ministry of Health, U.S. government agencies, United Nations, and international organizations to enhance laboratory capabilities in biosafety, biosecurity, diagnostics, and safe sample transportation. As a liaison to the U.S. Department of Defense during Operation United Assistance, MAJ Saindon supported the 101st Airborne Division in their mission to combat the Ebola epidemic in Liberia. His contributions were critical in providing humanitarian assistance and reinforcing health infrastructure during the crisis. Today, as an activated Army Reservist, MAJ Saindon continues to advance Global Health Engagements. Most recently, he represented the AFRICOM Surgeon Section during the Liberia Country Coordination Meeting in December 2024. Reflecting on his journey, MAJ Saindon describes his service in Liberia as “heartwarming and a life-defining experience to support Liberia during its time of need.” We are proud to highlight MAJ Saindon's enduring commitment to health and partnership in Africa. #PartnershipInAction #GlobalHealth #AFRICOM
