Is the customer support industry ready for outcome-based model for AI agent solutions ? Major players like Salesforce are bringing this pricing approach into the spotlight for customer service leaders. Here’s what I learnt from my customers: 🫣 The outcome-based charging model isn’t market-ready yet. 😂 Why ? Fundamental reason : - It is hard to measure whether the improvement is from the impact of AI alone. It's a teamwork, where human reps keep contributing to the final results. What's the market response after Intercom pushed the outcome-based charging model to market after 1 year ? - Every customer I talked to complain about the cost and low than expect ROI. Only thing positive about the outcome-based model ? - Peace of mind. What works well so far with my customers ? - Start with pay-by-use model and quickly show the ROI in a week or two. - Set higher target milestones that motivate both parties. Remember, this is not a zero-sum game. We are not building an AI that eliminates all the jobs in the company.
