In July, an OUR Rescue Survivor Care manager was waiting to testify as an expert witness for a baby trafficking case in Indonesia. Recently, the two perpetrators who were trafficking five babies were sentenced to 12 years in prison. Additionally, two of the babies have been safely repatriated to their families in different regions, marking a step towards healing and hope. The other three babies remain in government custody and the OUR Rescue Survivor Care team is committed to supporting their ongoing needs. On behalf of the OUR Rescue team, we extend our gratitude to you—our donors and supporters—for standing with us in this fight. Your contributions impact the lives of these survivors and helps bring hope. Read more about the case: https://bit.ly/3ZzTJid #GiveThemHope

Minnesota Women's Press recently sat down with OUR Rescue CEO Tammy Lee to talk about addressing high sex trafficking in Minnesota and how the organization works with partners and communities to focus on prevention through intervention. Read the article:

Day 8 of 22 Days of Raising Awareness for OUR Rescue's mission to save kids from the clutches of predators. Thank you, Minnesota Women's Press, for shining a spotlight on this dark topic: "According to the Minnesota report card on child and youth sex trafficking, Minnesota has an “F” grade for identification of victims — large gaps remain in tracking victims who are trafficked from other countries or caught up in the juvenile justice system." Traffickers will exploit any vulnerability, even if it's just a simple need for love. According to a report from Polaris, from January 2020 through August 2022, 39% of sex trafficking victims were trafficked by an intimate partner. In this week's CEO Perspective, Tammy Lee talks about OUR Rescue's involvement alongside incredible partners in an operation in the Canary Islands where 18 women were rescued. When a sex trafficking crime is suspected, we work to quickly pull together a multi-organizational team. Additionally, OUR Rescue often provides on-the-ground assistance during an operation. Made possible through our generous donors, OUR Rescue is excited to announce that five new K9s have completed their specialized Electronic Storage Detection (ESD) training this month. This brings the total number of OUR Rescue-sponsored ESD K9s worldwide to 110. Trained by the experts at Jordan Detection K9, these remarkable dogs— Mac, Shebang, Mabel, Rosie, and Router —are now uniquely equipped to assist law enforcement across the United States by uncovering hidden electronic storage devices. Such devices are often used by predators to store illicit content, including child sexual abuse material (CSAM). Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gP5aK6uM
