At Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios the opportunity for career growth is immense, especially when employees are willing to step outside their comfort zones to develop new skills. Just ask Paul Duncan, who joined the company in 2012 as a Software Development Engineer. “In that role, I specialized in the front-end code that controls the look and feel of the app. This enabled me to work closely with the talented design team – so closely that I eventually transitioned into my current role.” The responsibilities of a Design Technologist run the gamut from prototyping new products to building interactive demos. Paul’s team works closely with researchers and designers “to set engineering up for success.” Winning Amazon’s Accessibility Awareness Award in 2019 was undoubtedly one of the highlights of his career so far, and he’s honored to have been recognized for his outstanding contributions to the field. Over the years, he’s organized countless online courses, workshops and presentations to remind fellow staffers that Amazon “products are for everyone.” Thanks for everything you do, Paul! “At Amazon, everyone has a chance to develop, build new skills and share their knowledge within their teams and even outside their teams. The managers here are amazing, and they always provide continuous feedback and guidance to help fuel one’s career growth.” Meet Maryam Zarrinjouei, a Senior Designer Program Manager at Prime Video. Based in London, Maryam helps support the UX team so they can work more efficiently to deliver high-quality experiences to Prime Video members. “I help connect the dots from the beginning of a project to the very end. The beauty of the process really comes from different teams coming together to collaborate closely and solve creative problems.” “To me, the entertainment industry is filled with endless opportunities to create better user experiences. I love being part of the process – helping to resolve challenging, creative problems and building a better product that everyone is going to love.” Click here to learn more about careers with Prime Video: https://amzn.to/3CAOrLL

“For me, creativity is the act of making mundane things exciting and bringing your own unique perspective to any given task.” Based in India, Prerna Obhan is a Creative Development Executive at Amazon MGM Studios, where she’s worked on projects as diverse as the recent release Call Me Bae, Modern Love Mumbai, Happy Family, Conditions Apply and the upcoming young adult series Waack Girls. Throughout the day, Prerna and her teamwork challenge one another to raise the creative bar with every new piece of content, brainstorming how to improve upon their previous work to titillate, surprise and engage more viewers. “One thing I love about Amazon is that the answer is never no. You can really be yourself here. I might have the most bizarre thought and I’m totally comfortable saying it out loud because I know I won’t be judged. I think that’s absolutely crucial in a creative environment.”
