Globally, 25% of employees are actively searching for a new job (or will soon start looking or one). #SHRM's latest research on The State of Global Workplace Culture examined the broadly shared values, attributes, behaviors and norms of a company identifying the fundamental elements that make up a favorable workplace culture. While elements of a positive workplace culture—honest and unbiased management, civil behavior, meaningful work opportunities, open communication, and empathy—are universally recognized, some countries excel more in these areas than others. Regardless of geographical variations, one universal truth persists- the impact of a poor culture resonates across all borders. Globally, in poor or terrible workplace cultures, 57% of employees are actively seeking new opportunities or plan to soon, as compared to just 15% in good or excellent cultures. While cultural nuances may shape our workplaces, the repercussions of a poorly managed workplace culture are undeniably universal, affecting employee retention, productivity, and overall organizational success.
