This Giving Tuesday, we’re inspired by the incredible work of Social Venture Partners Vancouver's grantee, Mom2Mom Child Poverty Initiative Society, as they help families break the cycle of poverty with dignity and compassion. Mom2Mom focuses on connecting single mothers and their children living in poverty with the resources they need to thrive. With over 80% of lone-parent households in Vancouver experiencing poverty, the need for support has never been greater. Here’s how Mom2Mom is making a difference: ✅ The Power of Choice: By providing $200-$300 monthly grocery stipends, they empower moms to choose what’s best for their families. This approach prioritizes dignity and respects the unique needs of every household. ✅ Breaking the Cycle: Their work goes beyond immediate relief, supporting mothers in addressing root challenges and creating pathways to long-term stability. ✅ Innovative Campaigns: This year, Mom2Mom conducted an ethically designed survey to shape a holiday fundraising campaign that funds their impactful grocery support program. Thanks to their matched-giving strategy, contributions made between November 13 and December 13 will be matched up to $40,000, with a triple match on Giving Tuesday itself. Last year, this campaign raised over $100,000, helping expand their reach and provide the "Gift of Groceries" to even more families. This Giving Tuesday, Mom2Mom hopes to increase their support from 65 to 75 moms—creating more opportunities for children and families to flourish despite rising grocery costs. Last week we gathered for our second annual Impact Showcase. Despite the snow storm, over 100 people attended to learn, connect, and celebrate. We were excited to see several invaluable connections made between organizations, funders, and impact-driven individuals looking to be involved in community. From corporate connections to business advising opportunities, everyone came with something to offer. Resource sharing is central to social mission work and we are overjoyed to have fostered a thoughtful space for collaboration. As we highlighted at the event, collective giving and trust-based philanthropy are central to SVP Denver’s mission. Together, we’re not just pooling resources; we’re shifting how resources are distributed with respect for those leading on-the-ground change. Your presence and commitment remind us of the power of this movement and reinforce our mission to democratize philanthropy.
