I’m thrilled to share that I have successfully completed my internship with the DMS Audio Lab at Samsung Research America (SRA)! This experience was both rewarding and inspiring, thanks to the incredibly talented and welcoming team I had the privilege of working with. A special thanks to Andri B. for making this journey not only informative and impactful but also an unforgettable memory, I learned a lot and truly enjoyed this experience. Thank you, Andri, and thanks to everyone, it was a pleasure working with you all. During my internship, I worked on 𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿 𝘄𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 using emerging 𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 techniques, a growing research field that is revolutionizing design methodologies. Together, we designed, simulated, and tested a waveguide that met challenging directivity requirements—a fulfilling project that expanded my technical expertise and broadened my perspective on innovation in acoustics. To fellow graduate and undergraduate students: I highly recommend pursuing internships in your field of interest. Applying the skills and knowledge you’ve developed over the years to solve real-world challenges is incredibly rewarding, and the learning opportunities are invaluable. If you would like to be involved, the sooner you submit, the better the chance there will be a space to fit as I fill out the program as applications come in. As part of Samsung Day of Service, SRA partnered with The Tech Interactive – an organization that aims to inspire innovation through the creation of outstanding #STEAM programs. Their commitment to promote #STEAM inclusion for all resonates deeply with SRA’s core value of creating prosperity and opportunity for others. SRA volunteers assisted student visitors on the Interactive Floor with a variety of hands-on activities such as exploration of mechanical motion and open-ended engineering exercises. We were impressed with students’ drive and creativity, and we look forward to seeing these young innovators work at SRA one day.
