Dashing through the snow, on a fake website we go… ❄️ If a deal looks too good to be true, it probably is! Just like the holidays, scammers can create fake gifts wrapped in enticing offers. Always check the website's URL, ensure it's secure, and review customer feedback before you buy.  How to spot fake links:   1. Hover over the link: When you receive a link via email or message, hover your cursor over it to reveal the actual URL. This helps you check if the sender matches the link address. Example: If the link says www.telenor.no but directs you elsewhere, it's suspicious. 2. Use a link scanner: Tools like Norton SafeWeb allow you to check if a link is safe before clicking. Copy and paste the URL into the tool to verify its legitimacy. 3. Look for unusual characters: If the link contains odd characters, it might have been manipulated using URL encoding. Tools like URL Encoder can help decode the link and reveal the true destination. 4. Check shortened links: If you’ve received a shortened link, use tools like Unshorten.me to expand it and see where it leads. For links shortened by bit.ly, simply add a "+" at the end (e.g., https://bitly.com/1UV3bXj+) to reveal its destination.  Want to know more about avoiding online scams? Naughty or Nice: Spotting Phishing Scams🎁 Is it a genuine deal, or just a Cyber Grinch in disguise? 🎅 What is “phishing”? Phishing is a form of online fraud where attackers deceive individuals into revealing personal information, such as login credentials or payment card details, or into downloading malware onto their devices. This is typically done through emails or SMS messages that appear to come from trusted sources.  Naughty: It’s important to stay alert and avoid clicking on suspicious links. Phishing emails often use urgent language, suspicious links, and unfamiliar senders to trick you into revealing sensitive information, such as passwords or payment details. 📩   Nice: Real emails and SMS messages from trusted sources typically feature clear branding, proper grammar, and verified links. Always hover over links to check the URL before clicking, and be cautious of unsolicited requests for sensitive information. 📱   Stay safe this holiday season by spotting the naughty from the nice in your inbox!

This year’s UN Human Rights Campaign, “Our rights, our future, right now”, highlights the role of human rights as a preventative, protective and transformative force for good, particularly in times of crisis.   At Telenor, we are fully committed to respecting human rights. We acknowledge the importance of human rights for all our stakeholders, right now and in the future. The well-being of children, whether caught up in armed conflict or faced with harmful online content, is a priority. AI Skills for safety and inclusion is another. As digital threats continue to escalate, it’s crucial for businesses to stay ahead of the curve.
