The Texas State University System, founded in 1911, is the first higher education system established in Texas. Beginning as an administrative means to consolidate the support and management of state teacher colleges, the System has evolved into a network of higher education institutions stretching from the Texas–Louisiana border to the Big Bend region of west Texas. Today, seven component institutions offer a broad range of academic and career opportunities. Throughout the System, you will find professionals committed to preparing students for working and contributing to our global society. The academic and professional programs we offer help them make sound decisions in life and become contributors in their communities. Each university, college and institute within The Texas State University System is highlighted within this website. Additional literature is available from each institution, and contact information is referenced within each section featured. The Texas State University System is governed by a nine-member Board of Regents appointed by the governor. In addition, a nonvoting student regent is appointed annually to the board. The administration, which is headed by a board-appointed chancellor, is based in Austin, where it provides support to the System components and state government.

This week, we proudly celebrated the grand opening of two important buildings: the new Academic Building at Lamar State College Orange and the Workforce and Allied Health Training Center at Lamar Institute of Technology. At LSCO, the New Academic Building is now the largest space on campus, housing state-of-the-art labs, classrooms, computer labs, and collaborative spaces for students and faculty. LIT’s new Workforce and Allied Health Training Center will provide specialized training and support for local industries, featuring nursing skills and simulation labs, a pharmacy tech program, and an industry partners lab.
Last week, Lamar University celebrated the groundbreaking of the Mary and John Gray Library renovation, joined by Chancellor McCall and TSUS Regents. This marks the first major update to the iconic building in nearly five decades. Once completed, the library will become a central hub on campus, welcoming both new and returning students. https://lnkd.in/gtYK35DS
The figurative sculpture "a big thank you" was recently installed at Sam Houston State University as part of the school's Recreation Center expansion project. The 10-foot, 800-pound bronze sculpture was created by Dallas artist Nic Nicosia. This project was made possible through the Texas State University System’s Public Art Program, which allocates one percent of major construction budgets to acquiring museum-quality public art for all seven of its member institutions.
We're thrilled to have hosted Harrison Ford and the cast and crew of 1923 at the Texas State University System's administration building, O. Henry Hall. This historic building first opened its doors in 1881 as a federal courthouse and post office. In 2015, the Texas State University System Board of Regents approved the purchase of the building, which now houses the office of the Chancellor and the TSUS administration.
