When you're querying managers and producers with a feature screenplay, your logline is easy: It's the hook and story of your movie. But what about when you're querying with a pilot script? Should you use the logline for your pilot or for your series? The logline is the hook of your show. What is different about this story that will make it interesting to an audience for seasons to come? This points to using a series logline to sell a pilot. You want to show that your story has longevity. But what if your series logline is less interesting than your pilot logline? The purpose of a logline is to get your script read. So use the one that's more enticing. That is the most important thing. But keep in mind: Generally, when I have a note regarding a logline, I have that same note about its script. So if you think your series logline is less interesting than your pilot logline, that's a red flag! Do you set up an interesting engine for the show at the end of your pilot? If not, that might be something to look at. In today's brutally competitive economy, your pilot script needs to be operating at its highest level in order to open doors for you. This is the FUTURE of live music performance. Probably. TLDR: Live instrument + reactive visuals + full performance capture + remote audience. All in real-time in UE5. BOOM. The recipe: Mocap: Vicon+ Faceware AND (most importantly) RADiCAL Audio: Korus via PIXELYNX Before I was an amateur dolphin trainer I was a musician. And I've wanted to try and combine everything we do in performance capture into a live music proof of concept. We're not the first to try this obviously. Samantha Tauber is breaking new ground constantly. But I wanted to really push the system to breaking point and see whether we could make it all work. Could we: - Track a performer - Playing a live instrument 1:1 (in this case a Keytar) - Covered by a handheld camera + multiple 'go pros' - While DJ'ing - with the audio powering visuals responsively AND... this is the really important bit... - Bring the audience into the same digital space with us, dancing in there using ONLY a webcam? Yes. Here it is. We did it. I'm palpably playing the instrument live. It's really there with me. The visuals, while lame, are powered by the music, I'm DJ'ing using Korus and the audience is in there with us thanks to Radical Motion. This was amazing. It's just the first step in a live music performance product - think Cercle but in a full digital environment. Hybrid DJ sets can be transported anywhere and everywhere. Caveat - the suits are a major bummer at this point in time. If anyone can create a high performance, sweat wicking markered suit that doesn't turn into a bio-hazard within 5 mins... that would be amazing. Major props to RADiCAL this is so fun to see working. Continuing with the excitement from my side project! I’ve been diving deeper into procedural generation, and I’m thrilled to share a new update. 🌳 Environment: The entire environment in this animation is procedurally generated, bringing dynamic and immersive landscapes to life. 🎥 Animation: Captured on an iPhone 13 Pro and processed with AI, I managed to create smooth animations quickly. I was the actor for this animation and i shot it in small room with uneven lighting and Im definitely not a professional or even an amateur actor 😂, and it took me few hours to complete and i was able to blend it with other animations smoothly . While it’s not perfect and it definitely needs a bit of clean up , this method significantly accelerated my workflow and opened up new possibilities for efficiency in production and saved me countless hours and made me work with basically little to no budget need 🛠️ Materials and Assets: I created blending materials and used 3D scanned assets from megascans and edited to enhance the realism of the environment. Additionally, I incorporated cloth simulation to add a layer of detail and authenticity to the animation. All variations in textures was created via AI which saved me countless hours Combining unreal Engine 5.4 with AI and procedural Gen is life changing and This approach is especially exciting for movie makers and animation creators because: 🎬 Efficiency: Significantly reduces the time needed for creating detailed environments and animations, allowing for faster project turnaround. 🎨 Quality: Enhances the visual quality with realistic materials, assets, and simulations, leading to more engaging and believable scenes. 💡 Innovation: Opens up new creative possibilities by combining procedural generation with AI and real-time capture, pushing the boundaries of what’s achievable in a short timeframe. Really enjoyed doing the #TWIXR pod with XR industry heavy hitters and all round nice guys Charlie Fink Ted Schilowitz and Rony Abovitz (weekly news roundup then I come on at 17:40 mins) We covered a lot of ground including future of music and what we're building at Napster to finally unlock the #superfan opportunity. We also covered another favorite topic of mine, especially post Roblox. The future opportunities for brands & entertainment companies in the OPEN #metaverse aka the immersive, social, 3D internet. Mark Zuckerberg built the hype with his "Meta" rebrand then poured cold water on the fire when he (publicly) pivoted away from his metaverse strategy towards efficiency and AI. To be clear I don't think the "metaverse" necessitates a headset, think more grown up Fortnite, Roblox for adults that is accessible from the browser (no download necessary), no gaming and it's an extension of your existing digital consumer touch points. If you haven't read Matthew Ball's great book, he has just done a major update coming out in July which is a solid primer (you can pre-order here https://lnkd.in/etJqtfSQ) I still believe the immersive, social, 3D internet is one of the biggest but most under-reported future trends. While the world has become hypnotized with AI, there are companies making major strides building the technologies, engines and platforms that will power and populate the OPEN metaverse. It will not look like gaming, it will be initially driven by major brands, advertisers and media companies building out experiences, leveraging AI, to reach, entertain and engage their customers in more valuable and immersive ways. I am in the process of buying a car and the online research funnel stage is terrible, feels like 1999. Imagine going into an immersive experience by your favorite car brand (or retailer). You can walk around and see the cars, test drive them virtually, see new and used inventory. You can speak to live agents (or AI powered reps) to answer all your questions. The brand will know how long you spend, what questions you asked etc. Way better than online and even dealerships. Major brands who take bold steps will eclipse time spent and commerce generated by the 2D internet over the next 5 -10 years.
