I'm rounding off a compensation benchmarking project for Sales/BD people in the biopharma outsourcing industry and will have some interesting insights One thing that is always a hot topic in my conversations is the payment schedule for commission. Should it be paid on contract signed, revenue recognized or a bit of both? Any salesperson is going to prefer to get paid as soon as the contract is signed on a deal, so they can get their commission straight away. Companies, though, are usually reluctant to do that because of the risk i.e what if a salesperson gets paid a big commission check up front, leaves and the project gets cancelled? Here are some stats from the data on both services and technology providers in the industry: 22.8% of companies paid all of the commission when the contract is signed 42.9% paid some commission when the contract is signed and some when the revenue is recognized. 34.3% paid their commission solely when the revenue is recognized. 🌟 Merck’s Breakthrough in First-Line Lymphoma Treatment! 🌟 At the ASH 2024 Annual Meeting, Merck revealed game-changing Phase II data for its investigational antibody-drug conjugate (ADC), zilovertamab vedotin (acquired via VelosBio for $2.75 billion in 2020). 💡 Key Highlights: ✅ Achieved 100% complete response rate (CRR) in patients with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) at a 1.75 mg/kg dose in combination with R-CHP. ✅ Maintained an overall CRR of 97.2% across all dose levels. ✅ The 1.75 mg/kg dose demonstrated a safer profile, with no dropouts and fewer severe adverse events compared to higher doses. 🛠️ Safety & Efficacy: Safety concerns remain, with grade 3-4 adverse events like nausea, neutropenia, anemia, and diarrhea seen in 58% of participants. Despite this, the promising efficacy and manageable safety profile make zilovertamab vedotin a leading candidate for Phase III trials. 🔬 What Makes It Special? Zilovertamab vedotin targets the ROR1 protein, highly expressed in blood cancer cells.
