Six years ago, on a day much like today, I stepped out of the office after another workday. As I waited for the bus, I glanced up at the building’s entrance and noticed a rainbow flag fluttering next to the company’s name. Curious, I pulled out my phone and discovered that it was May 17, the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT), and it commemorates the day in 1990 when the World Health Organization removed homosexuality from its list of mental disorders. While my friends, family, and colleagues are aware of my sexual orientation, I recognize that I still encounter certain barriers because of it. However, I also acknowledge my immense privilege in other aspects of my life. I am a white cisgender man who had access to education, holds European citizenship and grew up in a peaceful environment. These factors have shaped who I am and how others perceive me. It struck me that when you tick so many boxes on the privilege checklist, you become less vulnerable to oppression. That day at the bus stop, I realized I could do more than merely enjoy my rights and privileges—there was an opportunity to contribute. I embarked on a journey of self-discovery, self-acceptance, and personal growth. Ultimately, I resolved to make the workplace a better, more inclusive space for LGBTQIA+ individuals. We at Siemens Energy have been organising internal events, educational sessions, and many more global and regional activities to raise awareness about the struggles that the LGBTQIA+ community still faces in the workplace, and learn how to build a culture of respect, acceptance and support in our company. 🌈 Today I invite you to encourage your colleagues to educate themselves, and engage with the LGBTQIA+ community. I have been talking about the efficiencies of heat pumps for pools for a while. Regulations are changing. In 2028, the DOT has changes coming to gas heaters. California wants to make pool heater changes in 2030. New regulations coming in SoCal requiring heat pumps in SoCal...read the below article from the LA Times. In the past year, I heard so many bad experience from going solar in California and everyone was blaming about NEM 3.0. Most of sales rep in CA, believe or not , are designing the system wrong and setting up misleading saving expectations for customers. Bigger system or Lower EPC does not guarantee any savings. Solar is not replacing public girds, but being complementary especially during PEAK hours. Generating more power is not hard, the real hard thing is how to balance the grid pressure at different demand hours. Battery 🔋 is the answer ！

This is a terrific story about how we are leading by example in the race to net zero with our own buildings. Our 900,000 square foot flagship site for the manufacturing and testing of our HVAC commercial products in Norman, OK recently went through major upgrades. These improvements are allowing the facility to operate with a 43% reduction in emissions which will deliver $960k in energy and operating savings annually. This plant is using our OpenBlue solutions, which help manage the temperatures inside the building and provide insights on opportunities to reduce its overall carbon footprint.
