Excited to share additional insights from my recent interview with Aaron Weitzman @ Axios on the government efforts to crackdown on PE dealmaking and involvement in healthcare.   Bottom line: Disclosure requirements around financials would be akin to a nutrition label on food products but without a real benefit — rarely looked at and intended as a scare tactic, seem intended to negatively impact deal parties without clear value to the public.   Dealflow has been buffeted by macro factors recently these additional regulatory headwinds to healthcare mergers (post-FTC and DOJ guidance), definitely don’t help volume but aren’t really impacting much yet. But as there is an observable increase in scrutiny, factoring in dead deal costs definitely could give folks second thoughts. What are your thoughts on these developments?   [insert link]:

I am excited to share our latest US Healthcare Consumer Survey results! In case you haven’t been following, we have been surveying consumers for years, and it is so interesting to see how fast some of the insights are changing based on demographics and external factors (e.g., affordability) Here are a few of my favorite insights – a call to faster action for our health industry! • 28% of consumers skip, delay or stop care because they can’t afford it, a number that rises higher among Gen Z (39%) and millennials (33%).   • 65% of consumers don’t seek care until it’s urgent.  • 80% of consumers ages 18-34 are willing to use generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in healthcare compared to less than 60% of consumers over age 55. • 3 of 10 can’t afford their healthcare bill, 3 of 10 can also afford to pay more • Trust in doctors swings widely among generations, ranging from 40% among ages 18-24 compared to 84% among consumers 65 and older • 60% of consumers place their trust in pharmacies
