You're managing a remote team across different time zones. How can you ensure productivity and communication?
The trick is balancing "respect for timezone" and how much "a part of the team" they feel. I've allowed and even recommended people skip a meeting that recorded, they can watch it later. Don't book more than 2 inconvenient mtgs/week. Don't book all-hands on U.S. Friday time zone, which is their Fri night. Set expectations that when you email/msg them during your day, which is outside of their normal working hours, they should not respond at night, and only respond on the next business day - you may need to light-heartedly tell them that you'll be upset if they respond at night. Culturally and personally, some employees will respond no matter the time, this isn't healthy for them. You are responsible for supporting healthy w/l balance.
