This innovative chatbot is tailored to individual preferences by asking three simple questions: how you want it to behave, what topic it should specialize in, and what tone it should use. 🚀 Recently, I had the privilege of designing and leading a workshop on problem identification and customer discovery at Northeastern’s Sustainable Innovation Startup Hackathon! One of the key reasons many startups fail is due to rushing to solutions before deeply understanding the problem they’re trying to solve. During the workshop, we focused on crafting problem-oriented hypotheses instead of jumping to solution-oriented ones. I emphasized how crucial it is for founders to truly know their customer base and build around strong user personas. A huge thank you to NU Entrepreneurs Club and Alex B. for the invite! 🙌 The energy was electric with over 30 passionate undergraduate and graduate students diving into discussions and exercises. I'm excited to share that I've been working on a new chatbot project for my college using some cutting-edge technologies! 🤖✨ This chatbot is designed to serve as an intelligent assistant for students, faculty, and staff, leveraging the combined power of Large Language Models (LLMs) and custom data. To build this chatbot, I utilized LangChain, a versatile framework that makes it easy to integrate different AI components into a seamless application. The chatbot taps into Hugging Face for its LLM capabilities, allowing it to understand and generate natural language responses and deployed using Streamlit. 🔗💬 One of the unique aspects of this project is the use of a vector database, specifically FAISS, to store and retrieve relevant information quickly and efficiently. This enables the chatbot to act as a Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) application, which means it can answer questions by combining pre-trained LLM knowledge with specific custom data from our college's resources. 🗃️💡 Although the chatbot is still a work in progress, I'm thrilled with the results so far. It's been an incredible learning experience to see how different technologies can be combined to create something truly useful and innovative. I can't wait to continue refining this project and explore new ways to improve its functionality and responsiveness. While Gen AI engineers in India are rightly concerned about #hallucination in LLMs, yet most would rarely appreciate that genius folks in our own country evolved extraordinary measures to arrest hallucination thousands of years ago, which included sophisticated #guardrails which were to be 'assimilated' in the brain itself, impacting the way it perceived reality and 'generated' content (Isn't the brain one of the most hallucinating natural 'LLMs' after all ?). This was not just to ensure that facts were rendered correctly. The attempt was to prevent disasters of another kind and of a much more serious nature. After all, language in India was considered an important vehicle for connecting to the divine, and not merely for communicating with one another. And we often fail to realize this #opensource framework, so to say, was built upon by different intellectuals in different parts of the country, and India ended up having several wonderful languages in different regions, languages which look different, but have a lot in common. 🌟 Exciting News in Natural Language Processing! 🌟 I'm thrilled to share the latest project I've been working on with my incredible teammates Pranathi Sundari and Vikas Ravula at The University of Memphis, Department of Data Science. 🚀 Project Title: Question Answering System with BERT In this project, we've delved into the cutting-edge realm of Natural Language Processing (NLP), focusing on harnessing the power of BERT (Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers) for developing advanced Question Answering (QA) systems.
