#NeuralNetworks + #AI ✅ done Successfully completed a project on Bank Customer Churn Prediction for the Texas McCombs School of Business Post-Grad. Project 4 is in the books. The mechanics were basically to analyze the customer data, and build a neural network to help the operations team identify the customers that are more likely to churn within 6 months of their relationship with the institution, and provide recommendations on how to retain such customers. Key Insights from my POV: ⭐ The human factor will always be needed to provide business inputs for the AI / Neural networks, and guide recommendations. (Until Autonomous AI) ⭐ #CustomerInsights structured with the help of #AI will be key for doing business fast, and if your company isn't using #AI to #DataScience you are already LATE to the GAME. ⭐ Financial sector business example one more time, but always surrounded by #CustomerProfile & #PredictiveAnalytics that can be applied to any industry. #LearnApplyRepeat #DataPreprocessing #Tensorflow #Keras #ArtificialNeuralNetworks #Regularization #MyGreatLearning

FOMO is alive and well in the C-Suite. "There is very little actually adoption going on, the technology is unstable and highly error prone, programming using AI is well nigh impossible, and there are surprisingly few good use cases for why one should use AI, and the models are degrading as their own slop is poisoning their training data, but IF YOU DON'T ADOPT AI RIGHT NOW, YOU'LL REGRET IT!!!" This is quite literally where we are right now. There are variations of the theme: "You know, we should be able to tweak the algorithms and solve all of the hallucination problems, then this will work perfectly." "If we get enough data centers in place, we should be able to scale to AGI." "The market just hasn't matured enough. We'll hit the inflection point any day now, and .... boom! The sky's the limit." "If we just make the government say that we can use all the creative content of the planet for free, then we have a real good business model." I could go on, but it's just too depressing. This reminds me of the old story about a boy with a cruel father, the latter who proceeded to drop a load of horse manure in front of the Christmas tree one year. When the boy saw the pile, he smiled in glee and grabbed a shovel. The father, shocked, asked what he was doing, and the boy replied "With all this crap, there has to be a horse in there SOMEWHERE!" A question comes to mind when I hear about investments being made in the $100s of billions of dollars on AI and AGI. Where is that money coming from? Billionaires do not become so by spending their own money. Instead they use their wealth as collateral to get outsized loans that are often dozens or even 100s of times larger than their initial investment (no matter how questionable the loan), they tap pension funds as backers, and they lobby their captive congress critters to part with taxpayer money to be part of the next big thing. If they see things beginning to go pear-shaped (to borrow a metaphor from Terry Pratchett) they quietly sell off their initial stake to the bigger fool and wake away with minimal exposure when the whole thing collapses. Sometimes they even short their own stock through proxies, to make more money when the bubble bursts. Who usually ends up left holding the bag? The banks, the pension funds, the day traders, companies that bet their futures on the next big thing by firing their most expensive labor, and so on, all of whom then go crying to Uncle Sam to be made whole. This happens of course, because these companies and funds are all supposedly too big to fail, and this consequently causes taxes to go up because the government has to cover more interest on debt. This day will come, probably some time in 2025. Whoever becomes president will have to deal with this.

Did you know a dedicated team of 15, Indian Railways, and the FORTRAN language take credit for rolling out one of the earliest and largest instances of an online transaction platform in the world? Read on! The Computer Maintenance Corporation (or #CMC) was established in the 70s as a public sector enterprise by the Government of India to maintain imported computers in India. In the 80s, CMC presented a demo of a computerized #PRS (Passenger Reservation System) to the Railway Board, booking a railway ticket was a cumbersome process that could take half a day or more then, the #IndianRailways decided to pilot the system in #NewDelhi. A core team of 15 domain and IT experts from Indian #Railways and CMC worked on finalizing the specifications and building the pilot system. The software was written in #FORTRAN and was one of the earliest instances of an online transaction processing system developed on a #VAX cluster. The PRS was rolled out in November 1985, and its efficiency in reducing ticket booking time led to its rapid adoption. Soon, members of Parliament were requesting PRS implementation in their constituencies on a priority basis. It was a proud moment for the #IndianIT industry, as the project was entirely developed by Indian engineers using domestic technology. CMC later expanded its services, developing broader IT solutions, largely for the government, and merged into #TCS! It’s a reminder that innovation doesn’t always require large resources; a small team with a clear vision and the right skills can achieve remarkable outcomes.
