Increased Violence Against Border Patrol Agents in El Paso - The U.S. Border Patrol El Paso Sector reported on Wednesday, Aug. 14, that they have seen a recent increase in violence against Border Patrol agents. Sixty-six assaults against agents have been reported since October 2023, when the Fiscal Year began. This compares to Fiscal Year 2023 when 104 assaults were reported. Border Patrol says the frequency of attacks has increased with the influx of migrants trying to cross illegally into the border and their confrontation with desperate migrants or smugglers. Other factors are the lack of respect for agents, as shown by the news media, liberal groups, and politicians. There are also Homeland Security agency policies that limit the number of Border Patrol agents who enforce immigration laws and protect the border. Furthermore, agents fear defending themselves because the liberal Biden Administration will discipline them. Gang rule: Understanding and countering criminal governance ✅ For millions of people worldwide, basic social order, property-rights, and dispute resolution are provided by criminal organizations in addition to the state. ✅ This type of criminal governance is common in Latin American cities, but gangs also rule civilians in Italy, the United Kingdom, India, South Africa, and the American prison system. ✅ What is interesting about criminal governance today is that it has survived the growth of strong states. ✅ In many countries, the government does not have a monopoly on the legitimate use of force in large swathes of their territory. The state typically dominates wealthy areas, but residents of low- and middle-income neighborhoods often live under a duopoly of coercion. ✅ In this paper the authors show that there are times when state and gang rule are strategic complements. Tropical Storm Helene AR-MEDCOM Soldiers: If you are unable to reach your chain of command, use this channel to connect with your unit. Key excerpt from latest from NOAA NWS National Hurricane Center report [Full update here: https://lnkd.in/eSbrrcHY]: At 700 AM CDT (1200 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Helene was located near latitude 21.1 North, longitude 86.2 West. Helene is moving toward the northwest near 9 mph (15 km/h). This motion should continue through this morning, followed by a general northward motion beginning later today and continuing through Friday.On the forecast track, the center of Helene will pass near the northeastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula this morning, move across the eastern Gulf of Mexico on later today and Thursday, and reach the Big Bend coast of Florida late Thursday. Maximum sustained winds are now near 70 mph (110 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional strengthening is forecast, and Helene is expected to become a hurricane later today. The storm is forecast to rapidly strengthen over the eastern Gulf of Mexico and become a major hurricane on Thursday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 175 miles (280 km) from the center. The minimum central pressure recently reported by an Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft is 979 mb (28.91 inches).

#MiddleEastTensions | It has long been an assumption that the Israel Defense Forces could not pull off an attack like they did yesterday without USAF aerial refuelers. If it did, those Israeli pilots would be on a one-way suicide mission. The Israeli Air Force apparently used over 100 F-35Is in this attack, and at least some of those planes had to fly 2,000 kilometers (1,242 miles). The IDF is claiming all aircraft returned from their missions intact. The United States Department of Defense has denied any involvement in the attack. #Israel has proved it can attack #Iran at will independently, and that will change the calculations of capitals across the region.
