COVID-19 and Twitter data visualization
-
This is CSE 6242 course project. Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a contagious disease that has taken numerous lives. It is important for health professionals to monitor the trend and distribution of such a pandemic in order to distribute medical resources accordingly. Social media chatters may serve as a good data source for this task because there is a strong correlation between COVID-19-related talks and actual COVID cases. Twitter, as a leading social platform, generates over 800 million tweets in a single day, and recently a majority of discussions are focusing on COVID-19, which makes Twitter an ideal data source for our project. Current COVID-19-related websites only provide visualizations on daily cases. The relationship between COVID-19 and Twitter chatters has not been fully explored yet. Therefore, in this project, our goal is to evaluate the relationship between the COVID-19 cases and the number/content of tweets in each country, and provide data visualization to assist users in making decisions and designing guidelines for work and school during the pandemic. To be specific, we would like to demonstrate how COVID-19 spread across the world and manifest the correlation between trends in tweets and the actual trend in COVID-19. Besides, a word cloud of most frequently occurring tokenized phrases is presented to give users a brief overview of the most popular topics regarding COVID-19 on Twitter.

Dungeon Crawler adventure game
-
This is CS 2340 course project. Our character could be an up-and-coming chef fighting their way out of a cursed kitchen. Weapons would be cooking utensils “spatula”, “knife”, “fork” etc. And the main character can eat different food to increase health value, and also it needs to dodge the attack from the enemies. The dungeon would be a restaurant or kitchen.

Image Segmentation via Cellular Automata
-
This is CSE 6730 course peoject. This project is mainly about image segmentation via Cellular Automata (CA). CA has been extensively studied and applied in various fields. The core component of CA is a local update rule defining a system transition over a single discrete time step. One of the most amazing properties is that even the most straightforward time-independent update rules can result in very diverse and complex system behaviors. Hence, we want to solve one popular computer vision…
