The role of the IT asset manager
- [Presenter] So what exactly does an asset manager do? Well, let's break down the role of the IT asset manager into kind of its core areas. First one is manage company hardware, software, and licensing assets, and by that, we mean bringing them in, scanning them, getting them into the system, working with IT to make sure that the assets are meeting the security needs, managing the licensing both for the hardware and the software on that device. What happens when it breaks? What happens when somebody new comes to the company? When somebody leaves the company, how do you recycle those assets, bring them back in, take them out of service, et cetera? There's a lot involved, and obviously the more people you have and the more devices somebody may have, both a laptop and an iPad, a phone, mobile device, a variety of software licenses, all of that has to be managed to make sure that you're not only providing great service to your customers, your employees, but also that you're meeting the…
