What is an asset?
- [Instructor] Our next section is what is an IT asset? And I just want to be clear, I'm going to give you a list of a lot of things that are assets, but it is not a full list of every type of asset that is out there. It is to give you an idea on the different types of assets and some things that you maybe did not realize are considered assets. So if we take a look, we have four categories, HAM, SAM, SEAM, and PINAM. HAM is hardware asset management. We'll go through each of these one at a time and give you examples. SAM stands for software asset management. SEAM is services and cloud asset management. And PINAM is people and information asset management, and that includes BYOD, bring your own device. Let's take a look at HAM hardware. This could include laptops and computers, mobile devices, telephony and teleconference rooms. And that also includes things like the monitors in those rooms, mice and keyboards, cameras, all of that. Frontline workers and retail devices, that is barcode…
