Why is IT asset management important?
- [Instructor] So that begs the question, why then do we even need an asset manager? It seems like IT and procurement are doing all the work. Well, it seems that way, but there are a lot of really important things that happen at the asset manager level. First, asset managers are focusing on high risk process and their outputs. They're taking a look at what could slow down people from being able to do their jobs the way that they want to do it and need to do it, and that's at a critical level. That could be, hi, I'm a salesperson and I don't have a laptop and I'm down for the next few days, that's absolutely not good, to, I'm having problem with this process that I'm trying to do. It's an automated process between my device and a server. There seems to be some software issues, et cetera, and they would work with it on that and see if it's a hardware, software issue and what they may need to order.
