Introducing our new white paper series exploring the power of eco-systemic thinking to tackle global challenges and ensure human security. "Deciphering the Future: Eco-systemic Thinking for Human Security" unveils a revolutionary framework to understand and address the interconnected crises of our time - from climate change to socioeconomic inequality. By transcending traditional siloed approaches, eco-systemic thinking reveals the hidden interdependencies fueling issues like public health, urban planning, and post-conflict regeneration. This holistic lens empowers innovative, sustainable solutions. Developed by afkar collective and the Cátedra Manuel Ballbé - Seguridad Humana y Derecho Global at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, this visionary series of white paper is a must-read for researchers, policymakers, and practitioners seeking to build a just, resilient future. https://lnkd.in/gFhzUmCv Dive in now and unlock the secrets to a better world. #HumanSecurity #SustainableFuture #EcoSystemicThinking #WhitePaper #GlobalChallenges #Innovation #Regeneration #ClimateChange #SocioeconomicEquality #PublicHealth #UrbanPlanning #PostConflict #Research #Policy #ProfessionalDevelopment #FutureOfWork #SocialImpact #ThinkingOutsideTheBox

🧐 🤔 https://lnkd.in/dbGZrcqA "The common governance toolkit is a poor match for dealing with tipping processes, especially non-linear change, and radical intertemporality. To support the development of effective responses to anticipated, rapid state changes in the Earth system, there is an urgent need for new interdisciplinary research programs focused specifically on tipping-point governance. We distinguish two domains of action in a multi-phase framework - prevention and impact governance - and identify key research areas and questions that need to be addressed. These include developing governance principles, identifying actors and institutions that should be involved or need to be created, and determining the appropriate temporal and spatial scales for governance efforts."

The evidence for private sector drivers for climate action in Scottish agriculture was published last month by ClimateXChange. On farm climate action takes motivation and investment whilst verification and reporting can be time consuming particularly if supplying into different supply chains - so how do we bring harmonisation and make QA schemes work for primary producers ? Here at C2Network our decarbonisation and earth observation activities might have a part to play but scale is important - thats why we are focussed on the ability of agri co-ops to drive change and have positive impact on their supply chains. This report is worth a read and lays the foundations for a debate we need to tackle. Keep following C2Network in 2024 as we focus on bringing new thinking to address agricultural challenges.

"The Earth for All report advocates five ‘extraordinary turnarounds’ in policy. In response this deep-dive paper insists on a sixth, widespread turn towards the under-appreciated inner in all system thinking... Without such a turn, we may expect that systems solutions of the necessary depth will continue to evade us." The latest #Earth4All deep-dive paper calls for a holistic approach to systems change to confront global challenges. 📢 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗡𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵! 🌍📉 📒 A new major meta-study led by the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change (MCC) gGmbH and published Nature Communications provides the most comprehensive analysis yet of carbon pricing systems worldwide - and confirms that carbon pricing systems are indeed effective! Here are the key takeaways: 1️⃣ - 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗘𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀: Carbon pricing systems reduce emissions by 5-21% in their initial years. 2️⃣ - 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: The study reviewed 17 real-world climate policies, including systems in China, the EU, Canada, and the USA. 3️⃣ - 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝘆 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: An aggressive policy design and a favorable environment significantly enhance the impact of carbon pricing. 4️⃣ - 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗱𝘀: Both carbon taxes and emissions trading systems are effective, contrary to some political debates. 5️⃣ - 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: The research highlights the need for ongoing empirical studies to update and refine our understanding of carbon pricing impacts. Read more about the findings and implications here: https://lnkd.in/daMuGrEA This comprehensive analysis provides a clearer picture of how carbon pricing can be a cornerstone of effective climate policy. 🌱💡 Really inspirational for our work at the International Carbon Action Partnership (ICAP) and for the broader carbon pricing community!
#CarbonPricing works: @MCC_Berlin-led meta-study @NatureComms shows empirical findings more comprehensively than ever. “This research can help set to rights the debate on the fundamental orientation of #ClimatePolicy,” says MCC Director #Edenhofer. ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/ehNuPJsA
